Lifting on hurt knee

This past august i tore my mcl and acl i played the rest of the football season with a brace on. Plus i was still able to lift and run on it without any pain or problems. Did anyone else have these abilities after hurting their knee?

I have read about pro football players with very strong legs being able to compensate. Although I would not recommend it, because there is potential to degrade the meniscus.

i dont know what type of answer your searching for, or maybe your just trying to project the image of a badass...but hes a shot at it.

as long as you had a petalla stabalizer brace with interal support to control your inside movements (also for your MPFL) it is possible.

the pain factor only depends on the levelof the tear and the surronding ligaments strength. basically your inter part of your knee has no structural support you outer knee is the only solid part. the brace would make up for your lack of internal support.

also a determining factor is your condition of your vmo and tibural muscle. if both are strong and your patella tendon is secure it is possible (since that is the power of kentic energy).

so yeah, its possible with the propper brace and previous mentioned conditions.

T

I tore something in my knee this summer in a simple slip and fall. I could not bend my knee for 5 weeks. I recently tried to do leg extensions and tried to lift 15 lbs and it hurt like hell. So kudus to you on your accomplishment

Agreed, the surroundiing muscles (if they are very strong/ conditioned) can make up for a torn acl. Some people can walk around pain free without an acl and even function throughout their lives without surgery.

Also, the MCL is capable of regenerating itself without surgery, even if its a complete rupture so you should have 3/ 4 cruciate/ colateral ligaments supporting your knee right now.

I had a level 2 torn MCL and a Level 2 torn ACL. The trainers at my school said i could play if i didn't have any pain. Through out the whole season i never had any trouble and pain. Idk if im just super man and can not feel pain i my knee or what. I could do everything that all the rest of the guys on the team could do.

Well, if its a grade 2 tear that means its only partially torn so that explains why your functioning so well with this injury.

Your acl is not completly torn so it is still functioning at a reduced level and providing you with a certain amount of stability. Hopefully mcl has completly healed.

Just remeber that this knee will be prone to injury in the future so dont be suprised if it blows out again eventually.
