Smile Proform C-800 Weight Bench Smith Machine

Does anyone know anything about this weight bench or have used it?? My thing is I will be working out by myself in my house and I need some kind of spotter just in case something goes wrong. Since this bench has a self spotter bar (which I'm not too familiar on how they work) I was thinking about getting it?? A guy has it listed on craigslist for $250. Any input would be appreciated thanks!!!

Pro-Form is made by Icon fitness and their products are generally poor quality.I've sold a few 800 series smith machines and they're not that great but better than some of Icon's other smith machine like certain Weider models. The average selling price for a C-800 is about $175 around here.

I've been preaching pretty hard and heavy about the evils of Smith Machines. There's not too many people around here who would disagree either. They promote bad form, don't work the muscles the way free weights do, and you risk injuring your wrists (and other body parts).

I finally got rid of my smith after I tweaked my wrist trying to rack the weight. Racking and unracking the weight involves rotating the bar. It may not be much of a big deal when you first start lifting noob weights, but once you start putting some weight on the bar it not only becomes hard to rotate the bar but it also stresses the wrists something terrible.

I'm begging you to get a sumo rack or a power rack.
