I'm deadlifting 405x5 in a narrow bodybuilding belt right now. Looking for that extra support that'll get me to 550.
I'm 5' 6'' 220lb 36inch waist right now, probably won't cut down until I do hit 550 dead.
Which one should I buy?

what can you afford? never had a lever they seem really good for getting on and off but the flaw is adjustments are hard because you gotta unscrew something. Would be good for me cause i like the same size for each lift. I have 2 prong and getting them both in the hole is im sure way more annoying than 1.

the sizing is kinda gay and dependent on ur goals, i got mine at 255 and am now 230ish, i had to drill a hole in it to make new size. Measure ur waist (around belly button) and buy the closest size to that but i found the belt has more leeway if your bigger than the sizing than if ur smaller.
Edit: i have the 13mm, i love it but can't imagine 10mm being much different other then a little less stiff.Last edited by BiggerTommorow; 12-10-2008 at 09:30 PM.

Only belt I'd really like to get and try out is the PR ratcheting belt. I've had the single and double prong 13mm belt and they are nice. I would stick with the single prong as the double was just a pain in the rear.
Right now I've got an APT single prong 13mm belt and really like. It's finally broke in and formed to my body. The leather isn't as smooth as the Inzer but it's just as thick, stiff, and supportive for a lot less.
Ken Anderson is sending me a 13mm Titan Lever belt to try out. I'm looking forward to that as I'm finding with gear I'm tightening the belt down a lot more and the same amount between the squat and the deads. Should get it today. My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

I got the 10mm leaver, Its my first reall belt. before that I had a cheap belt from sports athority. Its a big diffrence. I like the leaver cause i can just throw it on and crank it down when i am ready to lift and with a simple flick i can loosen it up between sets. I haven't had to adjust it since i got it. the only thing i don't like is taking it off, sometimes the prongs are a bitch to get out of the holes.

Whedo you guys wear your belt? Im having trouble getting mine to fit well (13mm inzer lever)
Digs into my ribs or hips heaps and just distracts me from my lifts, only place i seem to be able to wear it is over my lower ribs..."In the shade now tall forms are advancing,
And their wan hands like snowflakes in the moonlight are gleaming;
They beckon, they whisper, 'Oh! strong armed in valor,
The pale guests await thee - mead foams in Valhalla.'"

Seems strange to me that you are having that problem at over 6' tall. I'm 5'10'' and have no issue. I wear mine right about over my belly button.
Edit: thinking about it for a bit... Are you keeping your chest out when squating or are you allowing yourself to fold in to much. Make sure you keep the chest up and out and push your abs into the belt hard.Last edited by Jason2459; 12-11-2008 at 12:55 PM.

So you think the APT belt is just as supportive as the Inzer Forever?
Because if so, I might get this one in a large size:

They're a great belt. The one you linked to is the 10mm. Don't know how well it compares to the Inzer but should be comparable if it's anythingn like the 13mm.

That's the one I have. 13mm and very VERY stiff which I love because once broken in it is comfortable as it is shaped to your body making a nice custom fit and very supportive. Even when taking the belt off you'll see it still rounded to the shape of your body.My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

Hi there...
I am getting my husband a belt for Christmas and I think I will give the APT a shot.
He is 6'1" ~198lbs, 36" waist. He used to lift a lot, took a long break and now he's coming back. He lifts heavy, but not exceptionally heavy.
I read some reviews that the tapered belts are more comfortable, but 2 1/2 in the front sounds a little too thin... And 3.75 in the back is not exactly 4
Advantages? Disadvantages?
This is the one I am considering:
The other option, in terms of price range would be the Inzer Forever Bodybuilding, but I can't find the measurements (is it 10mm, 4" ?? or not).
I would like to get the single prong.
ETA: the Inzer puts him between the Medium and the Large. He will lose fat in the abs area and get bigger is muscle, but I have no clue of where the sizing will get.
Any input appreciated. Tks!Last edited by TyRunner; 12-13-2008 at 10:39 PM.

I was in the same situation about a year ago. I hadn't used anything but those bodybuilding belts. I went ahead and ordered on of the lever belts and now I would never look back.
Its easy to put on and adjust during the sets. Just one little flip and it is relaxed in between sets. Flip and your ready to go again.
Lots of support! When you push your stomach against it, you can really feel the support in the lower back.
Go with the lever, you wont regret it.
