and let me quite honest... dont get me wrong, we have some brilliant people in our military but there is a vast majority of high school drop outs, failures, and other people who joined the military as a last chance.... sad but true

Take a 5'4 135 pound legionare vs a 6'1 200 pound marine.

They may have been good for their time no doubt, but things have changed a lot.

Legionaires are trained for this kind of combat. They knew how to form shield walls, knew what to do when someone died, etc.

Marines are tough but, in this hypothetical, completely unprepared for this kind of fight.

I have a total of about 5 hours training with a Knife, most of that was on the end of a rifle.

5000 average marines would lose against 5000 average roman soldiers.

We are trained in Modern warfare, not as much hand to hand combat.
Romans trained ONLY in sword fighting.
we would lose.
