Add an inch to your arms in 6 weeks? I'll try it!

In this months Muscle and Fitness they had an article called "Armed for the Holidays" that claims to add in inch to your arms in six weeks. Actually, after reading the article its more like 8 weeks because after you finish you take two weeks off.

So I have been reading this magazine for years and have never followed a single workout. I like the articles on nutrition, etc but often skip over the training. I don?t know why but this got my attention. Now before anyone says anything about over training I think that?s the idea. You over train your arms for six weeks and stop for two allowing what I think is like a slingshot effect.

Sounds good for me and I get to keep my regular workout in the process so lets get started.

The workout has two phases:

Phase I runs six days a week for three weeks and has two heavy arm days on Monday and Friday.

Monday: Arms
Tuesday: Legs, Calves, Abs
Wednesday: Chest, Shoulders, Traps
Thursday: Back, Abs
Friday: Arms
Saturday: No Heavy
Sunday: OFF

Each day you also do one set of 50 reps of triceps and another for biceps each morning and night. On arm days you skip the morning workout but keep the night sets.

So I'm a couple of days in and the first thing I have noticed is that you need to really map out the arm days because each set has a different thing added to it. There are 7 possible variations that include drop sets, rest-pauses, negatives, and forced reps. So I spent ten minutes before going to the gym just looking over everything to make sure I understood what was expected. Today is chest, shoulders, and traps. My arms are tired but I like the morning and night workouts. They are quick and a good wake up.
