So I know the thread is kind of an oxy moron, but if you have already decided on drinkign alcohol for the night, what drinks would you choose that would give you the most bang for your buck without getting too many calories. aka like light rum and diet coke? any suggestions?
Please don't tell me the negatives of alcohol, I already know them =)

You know, what amuses me about this sort of thread is the fact that once you've had enough to drink you'll be buzzed enough to stop giving a crap about this sort of thing and you'll end up drinking whatever the hell you want. So what I do is sit back, relax, and drink whatever the hell I want/like. It's really not that difficult.
I love beer too much.

Vodka and whiskey are the preferred "healthier" drinks. Usually with non-fruit juices mixed or diet sodas. Vodka tonic, perhaps (with diet tonic). I like the above comment of vodka + club soda (which I love with a splash of lemon juice). Whiskey with diet soda goes well (pretty much any kind of soda works, but the norms are 7-up or cola). If you're drinking for having fun, then either do a vodka + club soda mix with the club soda as your next drink, or do like me and have a vodka double straight up with a seltzer on the rocks with a twist back (I used to bartend, so I like throwing around my old lingo).

I wish they put the calories on the bottles. I think I'll probably just go with diet sodas and whiskey or vodka. Drinking brown liquor always makes me feel like I'm getting more calories in because it's colored. But I like rum and whiskey the best anyways. I'd take shots, but I like the slow casual buzz and I can't stomach wine...

Interesting article. Thanks. I do wish there was more background information on the "studies" cited. But yeah, it does make sense that less sugars are consumed and your metabolic rate goes up.
Many times I will find myself dancing, or getting into a fight which burns more calories and I don't tend to eat as much. So maybe that could be why. Also, if alcohol is metabolized similarly to fat, it would take a lot of time to break down and thus, probably a lot of energy too. Any more articles would be appreciated.Chris Brown, CSCS

Totally!
I am a beer man myself so I typically drink Miller light (96cal, 3carbs--12oz) Occasionally will go with Beck premier light as it has 64 cals.
MGD has a new one with 64 cals but it is not available in Colorado because it is only 2.9%. The lowest the state "allows" is 3.2%...CRAPI should not be in RED. I made mistake of going to political forum and not agreeing with everybody. Bunch of pussies in there.

You guys are all wrong.
The health problems assosiated with drinking are not calorie related but toxicity issues due to the alchohol.
Thus, the healthiest way to do it is to take in plenty of water while your at it.
The lightest, clearest beer is your best option.
EDIT: Actually, weed and a good night of sleep is your best option.
