Question 124g of FAT in 1 day... is that too much?

I have recently got some software that lets me keep track of the calories i consume.

Today, i noticed that i consumed 124g of FAT! ..is that TOO much in 1 day?
Most of the fat contents was in the Minced Beef (I had meatballs & rice for dinner).

    As you'll see from the chart; I've consumed 2386 calories today - 116g Protein / 206g Carbs / 124g Fat.

I feel slightly guilty at the moment, I've eaten clean all day, but my dinner alone was 1400 cals!

I'm going out for my friends birthday meal tomorrow at Pizza Hut... I'm seriously considering not going as i don't want to pile on a huge amount of calories like i did today. Life sucks!

I still suck at nutrition, so I'd be talking out of my ass if I were to say anything about that, but what software are you using? It looks quite interesting.

It depends what diet you are on... but if you are on just a typical 40/40/20 (protein/carb/fat) then yes, it is too much fat. You should switch out some of those fat calories with lean meats (red meat, chicken, turkey, fish).

It's a program called "Calories" for Mac.

I'm not really on a specific diet, I just eat reasonably healthy while trying not to consume over 2300 calories. However, I do try to eat as much protein as i can.

Your dinner is far too many calories... and it's probably a result of you not eating enough throughout the day. Or it's simply you overeating.

Your 5 meals should be somewhat close to one another in calorie count.

Something like... 250 for snacks and 500 for meals is a good baseline to work from. (1750 calories total)

thats pretty high for fat intake IMHO. thats 1,116 calories from fat. i would try and cut that down to about half of that.

    The real question is:

Did those calories put you *significantly* over maintenance level?

Is 124g of fat in a day too much? Only if it puts you in a calorie excess.

You weren't expecting this, but STOP cutting right now, this second.

Go out and enjoy your Pizza, because you have lost a lot of weight and that's one successful transformation so congratulations Giovanni. Let it be your last proper cheat meal until Christmas if you celebrate it because I'm guessing you have been pretty strict on your diet the last few months?

I've gone through your pictures and you look very very lean, your avatar is misleading as it makes you look fatter than you actually are, and I'm guessing you think your fatter than you are, because I have exactly the same problem, it's what happens when you lose weight. You have loose skin like me and if you keep cutting it will only get worse, so eat that meal tomorrow and start your bulking up routine on Monday (Take Saturday and Sunday off).

Cut down your cardio to 1 day a week and start putting the muscle on, this is my routine that I have been doing the past 6 or so weeks.

Monday - Chest, Back, Abs, Traps, Legs
Tuesday - Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders, Lowerback
    Wednesday - Day off
Thursday - Chest, Back, Abs, Traps, Legs
Friday - Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders, Lowerback
    Saturday - Day off
    Sunday - 20 minute run
I think it's working, one example is that I've gone up 15kg on the bench press in 6 weeks, I'm fairly new to bulking so I have so much to learn in that section.

Get your calories up and enjoy carbs a little bit more.

Anyway congrats on your weight loss and I wish you the best of luck on your bulk.

It aint the end of the world. You should tighten it up a bit so your protien is higher and the fat is a bit lower.

its a good thing you are tracking all this so you know what to adjust.

i got a question for you though man... why did you cut from ~220 to 140...? that's a huge cut. just not interested in putting on muscle? if that's what you're aiming for, you prolly should have stopped cutting back at 180 or even 190#. time to gain some weight back man.. make it muscle. with the effort you seem to give, if you would have stopped the cut back then and started bulking.. you could be huge by now. it seems to me like you wasted a lot of time and effort getting smaller, when putting on muscle should have been the key to getting ripped.

Thanks a lot, i really appreciate your help.

Good to see your new bulking progress is going well. How much weight have you put on since cutting your cardio down to 1 day per-week?

I've cut down to 3 days of cardio since November, but whenever i weigh myself; i freak out if i I've put on 1lbs... and then that leads to me eating less and doing more cardio!

And, oh yes! I'm deferentially going to enjoy myself at Christmas. It only comes around 1 day a year, so I'll have a huge binge!

To be honest, i was only interested in loosing weight and being "normal" I was overweight my whole life, so the last thing i on my mind was to build muscle. I've only realised that i needed to bulk up after joining this forum.
