    Locking your elbows during presses

Is it bad to lock your elbows when you do bench pressing and military pressings?

It takes the strain off the muscle being worked and transfers it to the elbow join. I am not 100% sure if it is bad for your joint, but if you are trying to build muscle then you want strain on the muscle for as long and as constant of time as possible.

Right, if I just go back down without locking the elbow its much harder on the chest (or shoulders)
