From Max-OT to MMA Training?
Long story short-
* Previous HS and College wrestler thinking about trying a grappling tournament
* Been training with Max-OT for 2 years now
* Have great strength gains and want to keep it
* Have gained a lot of size and want to cut down
* WAY out of shape
So I need some help. I have been looking at different programs online for endurance and training for grappling and I have found some great circuit programs that I think are going to work great but I have some questions.
In a recent interview with Martin on BB.com they make the comment that he trains on a four day system, 2 are strictly lifting, and 2 are "Hurricane Days." They outline the "Hurricane Days" but fail to explain the lifting days. Are they heavy, full body, split, what happens on these days. I think I want something like this, with circuits twice a week, two lifting days, and one grappling day a week.
Here a link to the article -

Out of shape wrestlers thinking about doing a grappling tournament? You will get smoked.

What's max-ot?
My vote would be to give up splits for full body circuit workouts three times a week (done at a relatively fast pace) and doing high intensity cardio, if not just straight grappling for your cardio.

Sorry - Max-OT is like HIT training with little volume and reps stay around 4-6 per set.
Ok so if I do the full body circuit three times a week, Mon - Wed - Fri, and find a high intensity cardio program, when do I do cardio? Each day, every other day? I will only be grappling once each week because of work/life.

Keep your weight training the same. Just get on the mat alot. No need for anything else at this point

Drop the weights altogether. Keep grappling until the tournament.
To increase cardio in grappling, do more grappling.

Personally, I do cardio on alternating days in relation to lifting.
Monday-Lift
Tuesday-Cardio
Wednesday-Lift
Thursday-Cardio
And then I'll take one or two days off per week whenever I feel like it.
