    Working Out with DOMS- Bad for you?

    I normally work out in my school gym, but its down right now, and so I've taken to working out in my room with some old dumbbells. The other day I bought some heavier weight, and I think I got excited and over did it. I just did a whole body workout, nothing specific, and the next day I could barely walk.
    Its now 3 days later and I haven't worked out since because of a lot of pain. Its still quite painful to stretch some muscles.
    My question is, is it okay or bad to workout with DOMS, or could it overwork and damage the muscle. I'm starting to feel bad for not working out, and am wondering if I should just suck it up or not???

    Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.

    And if that muscle group is sore, you probably should rest it till it isn't sore anymore.

    Make sure you're eating enough and getting enough sleep, at 3 days the DOMS should be very faint. Make sure you stretch and get blood flowing to the muscle bellys

    Im thinking of waiting another day (but feel like an ass for it), hopefully its better. Should I still be drinking large amounts of protein even on non-workout days? I'm trying to lose fat, not neccessarily gain muscle, so I don't want any extra protein becoming fat...

    I never have until a last week + some change when i started a blast your bench program babyslayer reccomended. You end up benching 5 days a week, i did all five consecutively. I was afraid of overtraining at first but my bench has already gone up quite a bit so..

    Probably only for short periods of time should you do this to your body. And try to eat a lot.

    Nope, it will hurt, but if you have had a good amount of rest (24-48hours) then you will be fine. Sometimes when your working out they can get better.

    I don't see anything wrong with working out while you're dealing with DOMS. I would just go light to avoid over training. A light workout will get blood to the muscle to help repair it. Keep it light and make sure you're spending just as much time stretching as you are working out..

    One thing I've learned is stretching helps you get back in the gym with DOMS or really any soreness; it helps blood flow to the sore area helping recovery... You should be on a schedule to give a specific muscle group 5-6 days recovery (unless your doing a special regimen to shock the muscle like described previously), if your still sore after 5 days thats when you should start considering pushing your work out back... Buy yourself one of those foam stretching rollers, itll definitely help. Just learn how to use it properly if you're ever going to use it for your back.

    You might not be working out consistently enough. Severe DOMS is normally a shock reaction, as you haven't established a routine to your lifting.

    It really depends on the severity of the doms and how long since you've trained a body part. If you've trained it more than 48 hrs ago but still have mild doms there's no harm in training it again.
