Give me your opinions of my first block of training. The goal of this block is to increase my level of fitness, rectify any muscle imbalances and improve my anaerobic capacity. I also hope to lose a lil body fat in the process. In the bigger scoop of things this should help me get closer to my goal of being a freakish athlete, in any sport.
As for as the workout itself, its a combination of a couple of different programs. Usually I'm hesitant about combining different programs, but I think it should work in this case.
Here's a sample microcycle from the first phase, let me know what you think...
Mon. plyo + weights
Tues. tempo + core
Wed. acc. dev. + weights
Thur. tempo + core
Fri. plyo + weights
Sat. tempo + core or basketball* or rest
Sun. Complete Rest
or
Mon. tempo + core
Tues. acc. development + weights
Wed. tempo + core
Thur. plyo + weights
Fri. tempo + core
Sat. Basketball* + weights
Sun. Complete Rest
The plyo's will be from VJB's intermediate reactive workout, excluding the sprints and weight training.
For weights, I will be following Bill Starr's 5 x 5 exactly as written.
Acceleration will be shorts hills and runs out to 30m by the 5th week.
The tempo runs will start off at 600m/session and each week adding 100m.
*The only reason basketball is included in this program is realistically I can't force myself to stop playing it lol.

I usually play at the rec centers around town. That means there's talent from every level on any given day. The only people who can stop me are "real basketball players", who have a definite height advantage, but even then I'll find a way. lol
