Green tea?

Anyone take a green tea supplement? Any brands better than others? I was looking at this- http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/prima/lean.html mainly for the antioxident value, and a bit of a nudge with appetite, immunity and metabolism- I don't want a fat burner because they're too much punch for me (they either leave me jittery or zoned- and I'm not at the point where they're relevant- I've got too far to go without them before I consider them again) But green tea seems like something more gentle that might give me a bit of an edge with the immune system, as well as the appetite issue, and- of course- the antioxidents that seem like a good thing... So- opinions?

That looks like a pretty good one to me. You can compare green tea products by comparing the percentage strengths of the extracts, and the ECGC and polyphenol content of each (the higher the better). Maybe also the size and capacity of the capsules in a given product (again, the higher the better) There's a small amount of caffeine in a product like that, but you can also find decaf green tea extracts, too. By itself, green tea, whether decaf or not, is not going to hit it out of the weight-loss park as Im sure you're aware. But it can help subtly increase thermogenesis, which would certainly help over the long term. You can also buy green tea bags to make and drink sugarfree iced green tea as a way of getting even more of GTs effects. It's dirt cheap, that's for sure.

I wouldnt count on green tea to have much of an appetite suppressant effect though. The best 2 things I've found for that have been glucomannan, which is just about foolproof, and l-phenylalanine (1500 mg) taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, waiting 30 mins before any other food or drinks. The phenylalanine is also good for alertness and mood IME.

Thanks!

Yeah- I'm not looking for something for weight loss (I *am* cutting- obviously LOL) but not looking for a product *for* that- mainly looking at the overall health benefits- the antioxidents, immunity enhancement etc. That it had reported appetite supressant potential and weight loss perks was just a bonus LOL I don't want to get into products for weight loss until I get closer to my goal.

As for the caffeine- well... I drink a pot of coffee each morning. I have two preschoolers... LOL Caffeine doesn't bother me

Thanks for the info!

green tea is good for stress and anxiety, it contains l-theanine which produces alpha waves inside the brain, thus inducing relaxation.
