Bailey's quest for a "Pro" physique with Team Scivation
Ok, here it is since everyone is hounding me to start it My name is Vanessa, I'm a rookie with Scivation but far from it when it comes to working out, I?ve been at it for the last 5 yrs but only got serious about it 2 yrs ago when I was fed up on constantly going up and down w/ my weight, I've always been athletic until I had my babies, that's when I got completely FAT. Well, those days have come and gone, I've competed in 4 competitions, one in 07 and 3 this yr. I do my own training, and diet but recently hired a prep coach to do my last show. After my last show which was Oct 4th (Washington state ironman, 5th place out of 14) I completely fell apart. You see, I had a perfect plan set in place and had all the intentions of following it, but after the show I went completely crazy, my husband left a week after the show for training (Army) and I just lost control and before I knew it I?m 15 lbs heavier and I know its not muscle SO I decided to seek help since I was completely confused on what to do either bulk or not bulk, I didn't get any info from the judges there at the show, I could just kick myself for that. I ended up talking to a judge that judges a lot of National shows as well as Amateur ones and he straight up told me no more muscle, and that I should focus on condition so here I am? I'm ready for a total transformation; this is my journey so follow along. I do have a few set backs, I?m moving soon to the east coast, I have a shoulder injury and a back injury, but this will NOT stop me, nothing will stop me from reaching the top!
TEAM SCIVATION all the way!!!
So here we go day 1 on the CHA 1600
Stats:
Height: 5' 6 3/4
Weight: 145/ competition weight 130
BF% ???
My measurements I couldn't do all of them because it requires to have someone doing it for you and I don?t right now so I could only do thighs, waist and hip but those measurements will be put up later on.
I'm on the CHA 1600. I'm ready to rock this joint

Welcome!!!
SUBBED...............1st!!
Hi Vanessa, while you may be a rookie with Scivation, you are bringing experience with you.
You are going to kill at the shows. You already have an awesome build with a lot of lean muscle.
You've had a great transformation starting from the beginning to now.
You'll get a ton of support here.
The best is yet to come.
Can't wait to see what happens next!
Oh, the little dancing banana is funny, but um, creepy...LOL

HAHA thanks for the warm welcome
I went to the gym on my lunch break and did a good back workout, it was hard for me to follow along to something on paper and to actually make note of my stats was a little wierd...I've never kept a Journal before, I seem to be more of a visual person, hey...it got me this far, LOL But I'll try it just so I can give you guys #'s ;D
BACK- REAR DELTS:
Rack Deadlift 4 x 10/70lbs - 10/90lbs - 8/110lbs - 5/120lbs
this was the first time doing rack deadlifts...I LOVE EM' I can lift crazy weights, these lbs are plates only not including the bar
Lat Pulldown 3x 12/60lbs - 10/70lbs - 10/80lbs
Seated Cable Row 3 x 10/40lbs - 10/50lbs - 8/55lbs
1-Arm Lat Pulldown 3x 10/30lbs - 10/33 1/2lbs 8/40lbs
1-Arm Cable Row 3x 10/20lbs - 10/25lbs - 8/30lbs
Rear Delts
Face pulls 3x 10/ 70-85-90lbs
My gym for lunch doesn't have reverse pec deck so I had to improvise.
Rear one arm DB Lateral 3x 10/15lbs -10/20lbs- 6/25lbs
I did one arm w/ a bench only because it helps w/ my back I have to stablize it as much as possible to avoid injury.

yeah derek has me doing 2 back days so spliting my workouts felt wierd but hey it got the job done. I always do regular dead's. I could have lifted more but was intimidated my it..that and I was scared I may pull something. I need to build my back a little more since it looks weak compared to the rest of my body.

I do believe its the Tri-Phase Training w/ more focus on my back to really bring it up, whcih is called the Stubborn Muscle Hypertrophy Workout. I've never hit my muscles 2 times in one week so I think this will give my back something new, I can't wait to start seeing results

Hey hun!
I read your story, saw pics on your bodyspace...and WOW!!! If you're getting into that kind of shape again, I KNOW that when it's your time to shine on that stage again, you're going to tear it up!
So correct me if I'm wrong, but the focus now is to put on a little more muscle, right?

Girl I'm sorry, forgive me
I hope I can help others w/ my journal, I think I've come along way doing everything by myself, so I can only imagine w/ the help from Derek how much better I can be. The diet is coming along great, I'm not tired at all... I really love my yams PWO. I miss my leaner look too, but I'll be back to my lean self in no time at all doing this really keeps me focused only because I do have to answer to someone

WTF, I need help from you guys, what do I do, who has experienced this, how did you overcome it. I will not let this stop me. I just need to figure out how to go about my lifts w/o hurting it more...help!

First, sorry to hear this. Second................I would get a second opinion. I'd also try finding a specialist.
Third, DO NOT give up hope.
I know several BB'ers, who despite having back issue not only continued to BB'ed, but are now PROS....One is the guy you saw on my thread the other day.
Brad Loomis. follow this link to contact him.

Was the doctor who looked at it a family type doctor or more like an ortho? If it was just a general practitioner, then you need to get to someone who specializes in such things.
I hope it isn't too serious.

It was a family Dr (D.O) but he specializes in OMT and other things w/ the back, but he isn't an Ortho Dr. I do have a really good friend who is P.A and is a strongman so i'll be calling him up. I hope it isn't that serious either, but he's telling me to trade in my hobby for something like golf, they just don't understand our passion that we have here

IMO if you have a problem with your back, taking up a sport like golf would only exacerbate the issue.
Your body will torque to it's extreme hitting the ball. Not to mention doing that for nine holes.
Unless I am missing something that does not sound like a good alternative....

Way to early to give up. Talk to a couple of specialists and figure something out. Even if you have to take a break for a few months to get things better, that is better than forever. Think big picture here. Don't sacrafice tomorrow for today.

I won't give up and I completly understand where your coming from. I have to take care of myself, I'm going to talk to a few people including Derek to have him tweak my training to help. But its shoulders, chest and tri's today, yipee I know I can do that!

Vanessa, Sorry to hear about the back injury. You will over come it and keep rolling. Wish you luck
