Staying vascular/tight all year without killing yourself

As a female, I feel any time I cut up I lose it really fast and my body just wants to put weight on. I weight about 140 lbs. I would like to maintain a leaner look all year round, is it possible without killing yourself with strict dieting?
I'm not a newbie, I'm a personal trainer and Exercise Science Major - so I'm not clueless. I can manipulate my body for a short period of time, but no matter What I do I end up back where I start - without letting up on diet or exercise.
    Any tips?!

Staying vascular all year really is unhealthy IMO.

It is really all about water retention. Since you compete I imagine you try and loose as much water before a show as possible. Maintaining that all year would require you to be almost constantly dehydrated, and would seem counterproductive to longterm goals. Your body would always be in a starvation mode, and trying to store as much as possible.

You seem very lean looking in your picture which looks very different than your competition pics. If this is how you look normally you should be very proud of yourself! If you want to look like you do before a competition then that would be very hard to do IMO, and not worth it.

I think this can help you . to keep leaner you can eat whatever you want don't going too far from your activity level.

I can bulk all year round (eating ice cream, fries I'm addicted =P) and maintain under 10% body fat just increasing 100 - 500kcal over my maintenance , I don't do aerobics, take drugs or fat burners , all natural
