I have been taking a creatine supplement before my workouts and gained great mass...do i need to cycle on and off for a period of time?

Depends, I've been using Scivation's Vasocharge (2.5mg creatine), every lifting day since December, and my strength is still increasing, and I still get the pump.

So it depends how much creatine each one of your products has.

It's up to you whether ya cycle it or not; it's not entirely necessary to do so with creatine.

I intentionally "cycle off", so to speak, only if I'm not going to be training for a given period of time. Otherwise I keep it rolling. Same with my other supps.

It's a personal preference thing, really, since creatine does not need to be cycled. Personally I never stop using it, and use even on non-resistance days. But, everyone is different, and you have to do what's right (and works) for YOU.

I was under the impression that if you're taking more than 5-10g a day, you DO need to cycle off

It's only when you're in the 2-5g/day range that it's ok to take every training day...

The only time I cycle off Creatine is when I'm done competing for the season, and I discontinue all supplements for a month.

As I said, it depends on the individual.
