I just bought this cheapo at Kmart a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how long it will actually last, but for $200.00 I thought I'd take a chance. If you have a 2'x3' area of space available, your good to go. The Ellipticals do offer a great workout. I really like it. But like I said, who knows how long it will last.

If you're talking about my "cheapo" above, it's working great! I use it 3 days a week and love it.

I see people trying to sell the Weslos on CL for $200 all the time...
...trying to take advantage of uneducated fitness consumers...
Good to hear its a decent unit at least.

Good to hear. I am in the market for one also. I have to tell you, I am not a believer in the "I need to spend a fortune on stuff" theory. I bought a $175 stationary bike at Sports Authority 8 years ago. I use it 6 days a week and it still works perfect. I would bet that elliptical will last just as long if you don't abuse it.

as an alternative to an elliptical im thinking of buying a punching bag and learning how to skip rope. I think its about 10 times more practical (learn how to throw a decent punch, improve foot speed/co-ordination.)
Also somewhat cheaper. Any thoughts? Sorry to hijack your thread sir

Avoid cheap ellipticals if you can. Try asking at gyms if they have ones they are selling or know places that sell pro ones second hand. Tried few home ones most are shaky and not stable when in use and most are not at all smooth when in use and not fun to use, there are exceptions but most are not that good. Go to big store selling them where you can get on one and try it don't just buy from a picture or catalog.
