well the good news is you don't have hypertension, just prehypertension, which means you should take care of it before it gets worse. a resting HR of 80 is a lil high, you're on a bodybuilding forum... though this is the misc, haha. I can't believe I have to ask, but you do you work out regularly? Doing cardio regularly lowers overall resting blood pressure.
my BP is always high when I'm at the doctor's office. I'll take it at home and it will be perfect. I got my BP done at the doctor's last month and it was 141/71. I step into the doctor's office and I get stressed out and the more I think about it, the high my BP goes.
blood pressures vary thoughout the day/night and are affected by things like mood, medications (already said above), fitness level, diet, amount of sleep you got the night before, caffeine... etc
Lifting weights does little for blood pressure, but does reduce HR. Cardiovascular exercise does wonders, this is the ONLY reason I ever do cardio. I hate it so much but the extra liter of blood volume that keeps my heart healthy is too motivating.
