College Wrestling Programs Gone

How many 100s of schools ...both JCs and 4 year have dropped wrestling?
I know why....online i thought there was a site that kept count!

in LA..the local JC..Santa Monica dropped wrestling program and UCLA dropped it due supposedly to $$$ and politics.

does anyone know if theres a site that keeps a count?

Not sure but its ridiculous and pisses me off. The schools keep pouring money into stadiums for basketball and football but piss on every other sport. I loved wrestling and it just bothers me the way things are going.

Perhaps the popularity of MMA will help boost interest in middle school and high school wrestling, which may trickle up to revitalize college wrestling. Hopefully people like Randy Couture and Rashad Evan out there in a way promoting wrestling due to their MMA style will help.

Maybe I'm an optimist though, with the wussification of America by "parents" who live in terror of anything that might scrape, cut, or bruise their precious little ritalin infused, government school babysat, snowflakes, who knows. Sorry, hopped up on the soapbox there for a sec.

ASU, a D1 program nearly got scrapped this spring. Saved by an anonymous 8 million dollar donation, though.

I blame title IX more than anything (no sexist).
