    Foot placement on squats

    I'm not sure if this is OK or not, but my feet aren't parallel straight in front of me when I squat. My feet both angle outwards when I squat, and I do this because

    (a) I feel it helps me get more weight up; and
    (b) I'm 6'3" or 6'4" and planting my feet that way makes me feel more "nailed to the ground" and less like I'm going to fall over.

    Is this an OK way to squat?

    Yeah man, that is perfectly natural. I don't think anyone squats with their feet straight ahead, it is fine to have a slight angle in your feet position.

    i did it this way for a long time, but my outer quads took over my inners strength wise

    now my trainer has me turn me feet slightly inward to focus on inners...of course we're using light weight, slow reps and strict form for the sake of my knees, but still....just depends

    Your feet should be pointing wherever they naturally point. The angle will be slightly different for everyone, but generally will be the same as where your knees point. Step back with the bar, get your feet whatever distance apart you want, and squat.
    No brain, no gain.

    You can't out-train bad nutrition.

    I heard for good form you want your knees to travel over(at the bottom position) and in the same direction your feet are pointed.

    How far should you keep the feet apart? Pelvic width, shoulder width or somewhere in between?

    OP my feet point out

    @Greenleaf:

    Wider stance more hamstrings and posterior chain.

    Closer stance works more quads.

    Being a taller guy, a wider stance and feet pointed out works best for me.

    My feet are naturally duck-footed, IE i have an extremely wide angle in my feet when I walk. Is it OK to keep this angle, which is about 45-50 degrees as long as my knees follow my toes?

    Yes. For the vast majority of people, as long as the knee tracks over the foot, and you have no pain, you're good.
