How much, how long before the workout, and what kind (whey or casein)?
I was thinking of taking casein before my workout because of the slow digestion of the protein. Is this smart, or what should I do? Is protein before the work beneficial?

I'd choose whey and add oats as well. This has always seem to be the best way and given me the most energy throughout my workouts.....fast digesting protein and slow burning carbs. Either way its fine....i've done casein before workouts as well....but i dont think its as optimal. Whole foods is probably the way to go .....i tend to eat something about an hour - hour 1/2 before hitting the gym.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I'm repping down the list as i go, but I'm all out for today.
A couple quick questions though. I normally do 2 scoops of whey when I make a shake, so 46 grams of protein. How much oat should I add to the shake? I have never ever tried adding oats to my shake.
Also, I just bought some Casein so I'm not too familiar with its purposes other than taking it before bed. I normally drink a protein shake in the morning, and one in the afternoon. Whey of course since I just bought the casein. Would it be smart to substitute one of those shakes with a casein shake? Possibly my morning shake, to help the protein stay longer in my system?"Because your own strength is unequal to the task, do not assume that it is beyond the powers of man; but if anything is within the powers and province of man, believe that it is within your own compass also."
