Fighter with asthma
Anyone in here a fighter that has asthma? I have asthma and it sucks. I'm just wondering if anyone has asthma and has found ways to overcome it in the cage. I know lots of running and training is going to help. But in the past when I trained judo I would get so exhausted and out of breathe during that I even had to stop from puking. I do run but probably need to run a lot more. I'm just wondering what kinds of things you guys have done to help deal with this in mma. I figure I'd probably have to run close to an hour a day and train more than an average person to help compensate for the horrible airways my lungs possess due to this ****ty asthma.

i have asthma and it gets set off by exercise.. just keep working out and your lungs wont be strained as easily, and use your inhaler whenever you need it

I used to have asthma as a kid 11-12 years old. I just did a lot of swimming, laps. I even competed and won 2nd in regionals.
I just suddenly lost my asthma.

Your asthma symptoms are completely unnoticable when you get in good shape. When I'm inactive for a long time (couple months) I start wheezing easily, etc.

I've only noticed my asthma when I really, really push myself. When I am on the brink of collapsing does my asthma compound with my fatigue.

If your diet is super-healthy and you're in great shape, your asthma should virtually dissappear.

Ya I'm in good muscular shape with good strength but cardio is pretty bad for me. I do some cardio each day but I think I need to step it up. I did 15 mins today, problem is I go to school full time and work part time so its kind of tough to find all that time to be in the gym. But thats what Ive heard that peoples asthma pretty much disappears when they get in shape so I will just run a lot more and try to maintain strength that I have so I don't spend so much time lifting.

Asthma sucks though, Its like I'm constantly training at altitude or something. BUT I'm not going to use it as an excuse, I'm going to push past it. Aight guys thanks for the tips, reps comin.

do yourself a favor dude. GO TO THE DOCTOR. It's not weak to be healthy, darlin. They'll put you through a few tests, and if you don't have it, you know you just have to train a little more proficiently. Even more running, depending on what you are running for, and eating better, which i hope you already do...
