There is no way he actually coaches that team. The man is senile... and I'm not exaggerating. I don't know how he even finds his own way to the stadium.

as long as they were winning...it was Joe Pa...now that they lost...the truth will come out. I just think of weekend at bernies when they show him with his headset on during the game sitting up in the booth.

Meh I've been saying it for a year or two. He has nothing to do with the team other than be a source of motivation. It's pretty obvious. I mean, the guy can barely speak coherently, let alone run a college football program.

I doubt he could have made it to nc even if the won, 2 months is a long time for him.
my friend from hs band got kicked of the yell team at A&M last year for making fun of his oldness.

Joe Pa is definitely getting there man. This loss really looked like it took a huge toll on him. Although I didn't want to see Penn State to even be in the picture for the Natty Champs I was heart broken to see him how he was post game.
Again, Joe Pa looks like he's getting to that point. When he passes we will lose one of the greatest sport figures of all time and the entire sporting world will feel it's effect.

Yea I'm not a PSU fan, but I've got great respect for the guy. Definitely a grade-A badass.

Totally agree. Almost seemed like he was about to cry. I think he knew this was his last chance and I really believe he's to the point where he's thinking he just can't do it anymore, especially after such a hearbreaking defeat. I have a feeling this is it for him. He retires after this year.

Yeah, I think he realized that was the last push and now it's over...that will take it's toll on anybody.

I'd hate to speculate on the psychee of the players after seeing Joe Pa's reaction to the loss. I don't play for him and it taxed me--I couldn't imagine the guilt his players have regardless of whatever inspiration Paterno brought to the locker room post game.
I've never been in that kind of situation but I could only imagine that it might be more of a distraction than it would be a mental edge.
