My squat is a 255X6 at the moment. Is it possible that by June 1 it could be at 385X8?
I have been squatting for about 6 months now, but not seriously.
There was alot of breaks and alcohol involved.
I started at like 135X2 btw
I plan on really devoting myself to lifting and diet now.
I only plan on gaining 12-18 pounds in this time to. (6 months)
So, is this a reasonable goal?
If not, what is?
I really wanna gain 20 lbs a month on it

Not gonna happen. In the first few months the weights move up pretty quickly. I went from 135 pounds to 245 pounds x 12 in two months when I first started squatting.
Ones your body gets accustomed to the exercise and you hit your real max your body needs to grow to get stronger, this takes time.
It also depends on your workout scheme, maybe it is possible with a strength program. But when doing something like a high volume split (with say 25-30 sets at 8-12 reps) the strength increases come much slower.

its possible
try squatting 3 times a week, throw in some box squats, maybe some 20 rep squats every couple weeks eat your ass off, and do some cardio every now and then and your goal is possible, if you have decent genetics that is._____________________________________________

To be honest, it's not a good idea to ask whether it's possible. If it seems possible to you, then you could achieve more. Asking others will give many opinions, but will generally bring you down. If you want something, go for it as hard as you can. If you fail, so what?
If you aim for 385 and you only hit 355 that is okay. That is better than aiming for 355 and only hitting 325. It is better to aim high and miss then aim low and achieve it (or more likely, miss it too!).
Aim high, and you will end up somewhere near it.Last edited by Mr Bounce; 12-04-2008 at 09:36 AM. Reason: typo
