What's your favorite celebrity workout regimen? Why?
One of my favorite workouts is that of six-time winner Dorian Yates. Dorian Yates was known for the grainy look that is not seen in many bodybuilders today. His workouts were some of the most intense workouts and he got injured a lot. Even though that was the case, he brought home six Sandow trophies to the pride of England. His workout is not for beginners, but rather for people who been lifting for at least six months to a year. His workout was fast and hit your muscles hard. His workout were not about a lot of sets and volume, but emphazied the Mike Mentzer philosophy, "which called for doing only one set for each exercise, and taking that one set to all-out failure."(Wuebben, Book of Champions, 29). Dorian usually did warm-up sets before his one failure set. This made sure he was adequately prepared to lift at his maximum level. Once the few exercises have warm-up sets, the others that follow won't need any because your body is ready to go.
What is this workout designed to do?
The workout focuses on gaining muscle mass and size. You do this by keeping your workouts tough and also getting good rest between sets. Dorian explains this in further detail. "First, you have to stimulate the growth by training intensity enough, but you also have to allow enough time for your body to recover,' he explained. Only then does the growth process take place...And if you don't recover fully, you aren't going to grow."( Wuebben, 30). This workout is so intense that each bodypart only needs to be worked one time a week. This workout was not just about getting muscle mass, but also focusing on mind-muscle contraction. This means imagine feeling each rep and pushing to your best. You will stimulate more muscle growth by concentrating than by just lifting the weight. Adding in forced reps and rest-pauses are also ways to keep your workout intense. The key is to not use them all the time and switch up the bodyparts you use them on.
Is it possible for the average person to follow a celebrity's transformation regimen, or is it too much?
Before a person even wants to follow a plan like this, they should see their doctor and a sport medicine professional to make sure their body is running on full health. I would recommend getting a physical. It is relatively cheap and worth it before beginning a tough program. Secondly, you want to have been lifting or doing cardio for a while before you begin a celebrity program. The 300 Workout is one of the most intense workouts I seen, but I would not start off by doing it. I would cut it in half and start myself there. Then, you can set goals and work yourself up to the hard 300 Workout. Being fit is not who gets there fastest, but rather the person who takes their time and follows the script training and nutritional wise. When I started out training, I looked in the mirror and saw my weakness. I trainthe body part I felt needed work. Now that I been lifting for a while, I can experiment and play around with a new workout with little to no problems. Dorian Yates's workouts pushed him to the limit and he was injured a whole bunch of times. Those injuries did not stop him from winning six Sandow trophies. Depending on what your goals are you can push that hard, but don't jeopardize your health. Do what you know best in the weight room. If your motivated to do your best, nobody can stop you.

The Ryan Reynolds workout and diet routine
What is my Favorite celebrity workout? RYAN REYNOLDS. Why? It inspired me to work out and diet the way i have been for over a year. Everyone remembers Ryan Reynolds from van wilder, a skinny guy with a little muscular definition at best(body fat around 12%). For his movie role in Blade Trinity he put his all into a five month workout and diet regimen, and cut his bodyfat below 5%, while still gaining quality muscle mass. All ectomorphs understand how hard it is to gain the weight he did, with such low body fat, which is why i look up to his regimin the way i do. I have talked to his trainer Darren Chapman, who has emailed me all about his diet and gym routine.
What is the Ryan Reynolds workout and diet intended to do? Cut body fat while gaining quality muscle mass. This workout is not tailored for everone, but for many it will work. This routine has put me at where i am today. This workout consists of mostly free weight training. Very Simple. One body part a day.( Chest, back, legs, arms, delts, etc.) Cardio isnt a priority in this routine, but mixing in a day a week doesnt hurt. It is important to hit heavy weights, keeping reps around 8-12 at max, trying to mix up your routine every week as much as possible. Starting every workout with abs first, and anyone who has seen blade trinity understands how well this helped Ryan Reynolds Abdominals. The most important part with the routine has to be the diet. Everyone who hits the gym eventuall finds out, that when you workout, your workout never starts in the gym, it starts in the kitchen. Ryan Reynolds would eat every two-three hours, to kick start the metabolism.
Sample diet
Breakfast: 2 eggs, some "good" fat like a spoon of almond butter or slice of avocado, and 1 cup of oatmeal with applesauce
Midmorning snack: protein bar
Lunch: albacore tuna wrap or chicken and salad
Mid-afternoon snack: protein shake (whey and water), protein bar, or apple and almonds
Dinner: broiled fish or chicken, brown rice, vegetables, and salad
Evening Snack: protein shake
I think the diet is key because he doesnt run away from carbs and quality poly and mono unstaturate fats, just never at night. As far as supplements go, the big three are Key. Just like almost every bodybuilding.com article will tell you. Whey protein, creatine, and L-glutamine are the base to any good supplement regimen.
Can the average person follow this regimen? YESS. I have, and so can you. Just like every workout, you must tailor it to fit yourself, but this diet is a great base for anyone. The diet is layed out in simple terms, the supplements arent anything crazy, and the one body part a day is great for any person who wants to put on some good quality mass. Between learning of the Ryan Reynolds Regimen, and reading up on bodybuilding.com, i got my start in the world of bodybuilding, and never looked back.

The Spartan Workout
I love the spartan workout from the movie 300. The actors in that movie were put through absolute hell with workouts designed to absolutely rip the fat off of them.
Most people can't even build a body like that in a year and each of these guys did it in a matter of months. From what I have seen, the workout routines that they actually performed included a lot of very intense exercises that involved all or most of the body. The main principle behind the program was to completely deplete the body of glycogen early on and then push it until absolute failure. The other key factor was that the program was designed to confuse the hell out of the body.
The workouts reminded me of the circuits they used to make us do in high school football. We'd only do the circuit for 10-15 minutes, but that 10-15 minutes would leave everyone exhausted and ready to start throwing up.
Essentially, the main concept behind a workout like this is to push the body to its absolute limit in a very short period of time and then continue on beyond that point. The net effect of all this is that a person's heart rate skyrockets and then is maintained at that high level. By maintaining a very high heart rate for an extended period of time through intense physical exercise, a person's body will burn astronomical amounts of calories in a very short period of time. The other benefit is that even after the workout, that person's BMR (basal metabolic rate) will be substantially higher.
The key to a solid weight loss workout routine is simply:
more intensity = more calories burned
The more intense a workout is, the more calories a person will burn. What I liked about the spartan workout is that it was all about quality and not quantity. Everything was to designed to be very intense, very demanding, and very effective. If these guys hadn't had trainers screaming at them to keep going, I doubt that they would have put themselves through that kind of a workout.
If you wanted to create a routine like the one used to train the actors in the movie, then you would have to do several things:
1) Pick about 8-10 of the hardest execises that will allow for a high volume of repetitons. Find exercises that involve all or most of the body.
2) Design an intense program that will last approximately 15 minutes (do not go over 20 minutes or you will risk burning muscle mass). Use the workouts that you outlined in the first step.
3) Don't take any breaks during the 15 minutes. Everything must be back-to-back with no rest.
4) Go all out even when you begin to feel sick. Having someone to yell at you to keep going may be the only way to keep yourseld motivated.
The spartan workout has to be one of the most intense workouts ever designed. It's like boot camp on steroids. Then again, there is also a reason why everyone wants to look like a spartan, but very few ever do.

the Angelina Jolie workout
Yep, definitely my favorite. It mostly consists of me doing a lot of pushups. Leaves my tris and lower back thrashed everytime!
