    this week i pulled 385 beltless from a small deficit, benched 195x5 paused, and squatted 335 for a relatively easy single. three weeks ago i was pulling 365 in a belt, benching 205x1 paused, and squatting 305 so pretty big PR's.

    50s PRs, as of 2/9/15

    Squats: [280/5,] 295/3, 310/1
    Benches: 150/5, 157/3, 165/1
    Deadlifts: 340/5, 357/3, 375/1

    The first set of squats wasn’t a PR (hence, the brackets), but the rest were. Back in December when I started my current routine and making plans to compete again, I set goals for the contest of: 310, 170, 370, 850. This week I did: 310, 165, 375, 850. I still have 1-1/2 weeks of hard training left, plus a couple of light workouts before my upcoming contest. Here’s trusting the LORD for a few more PRs before and at the contest.

    2.5 times bwt. Very good. You might want to bring your hands in a couple of inches. That wide could led to shoulder problems. Just a friendly comment from someone who is currently dealing with shoulder pain.

    Impressive lifts. But you might want to try bringing the bar down more slowly if you're thinking of competing. Coming down that hard could get you red-lighted in some feds.

    Good lifting. Nice to get several PRs. On the missed squat, it is always best to follow through with a lift then let the chips fall as they may, than to assume it is not good and give up. And tell your mom, nice video, despite the one miscue. Good video editing on your part too.

    Good lifting, but do save up for that belt. Once you get it, it should last a lifetime, so it is a good investment.

    50s PRs, as of 2/16/15

    Squats: [275/6], 290/4, 305/2
    Benches: [150/5], 160/2, 170/1
    Deadlifts: 345/5, 365/3, 380/1

    The first set of squats and benches weren’t PRs (hence, the brackets), but the rest were. These were my last heavy bench and deadlift workouts before my upcoming contest. I reached my goal on benches, and bettered by goal on deadlifts by ten pounds. But the real question is if I will be able to do those lifts at the contest on 2/28. I shall see!

    Not bad for just getting serious at this back in june.

    Recently hit 270# for a bench single and 5x for pull ups. (I'm 238#)

    50s PRs, as of 2/20/15

    Squats: 285/5, 300/3, 315/1

    This was my final heavy workout for my contest 2/28, and it went very well. I was thrilled to be able to put 3 plates on the bar for squats for the first time in my 50s; that 315 bettered my original goal by five pounds. I just have two light workouts left to finish off my training.

    Bench PR

    I haven't maxed on bench in 10 years. 5 weeks ago I did 365 for 4 reps so I figured I would give 405 a shot. Hit 405 pretty easily. Rested 6 minutes and hit 415!

    I feel....pretty awesome right about now.

    That's awesome man! I'm in the same boat, havent maxed in forever and would love to be in the 400lb club on bench. I think I'm mid 300's though so I'll just live vicariously for a bit. Great job!
