As the title suggests, that's my question

Not really. It can be incorporated into a program but it's really not a "suitable" replacement for the squat. The squat is great in pointing out weak and poor flexibility points of your body (mostly lower, but some upper ones too). The leg press will never challenge you in the same way. Beyond it's strength returns, the squat is a great exercise to become familiar with a lot of body mechanics and coordination issues.
What your issue with squats? Don't like them, don't have equipment, unsure about form?

I actually prefer Leg Press over Squats, only because they are safer on my knees and lower back. I wouldn't say it's better, Squats are one of the best total body exercises which releases the most testosterone in your body. But, when I'm just focusing on Legs, I prefer the Leg Press/Hack Squats since it's safer as mentioned earlier.

Cheers for the replies.
I have been steering clear of squats mostly due to being unsure of form in all honesty - but also because the rack eq at my gym can often have queues, and I find the leg press simpler - pin and press - and I think I've been getting pretty good results.
I am in the middle of altering my routines as currently, my 2 day split routine = 3 + hrs in the gym every second day. (includes cardio / swim)
Looking to cut down to something like 1 hr of weights / stgth training + my usual cardio and swim and some ab work with every session.

Yeah, the squat or power rack queues can get annoying. I'm lucky that no one at my gym uses them when I'm there; not even to do curls! :P
In terms of form, I'd highly recommend the Squats Rx videos on youtube:

There are 20-some. It's best to go back to them regularly when you're first starting off because you'll more easily recognize the problems he discusses.
