answer some myths for me please
Throughout this year people have been giving me **** about different aspects of bodybuilding but I can't really defend myself because i don't have the reasoning. Basically i just trust in this site and realize that all of you have been doing this for so long that you know what your doing.
1.) People say that 200+ grams of protein is bad for your kidneys and your body can only process so much at one time and you piss the rest out.
2.) The lack of carbs from keto diets can screw up your brain tissue or some bull****?
3.) A doctor actually said this... that vitamins should only be bought from grocery stores because the kinds at GNC and such are pumped with like 5 times the recommended intake.
Sorry for these noob questions and thanks in advance.

On the first two, our bodies are pretty clever and can figure out how to use what we give them to function with.
Not sure on the 3rd

1) people have had problems w/ massive intake of protein, depends on the individual
2) lack of carbs will not screw up ur brain tissue
To be honest the best thing to do is try everything, no matter what people say on these forums what works for some people will not work as good for other people, and its not just physical its also mental. Test new things out, see what you like most and what makes your body feel the best when you get in the gym. After all food is just the energy we need to workout hard.
In accordance to your #3 i wouldn't say that people who take supp's are the healthiest people, if your talking about being healthy then im sure your doctor is correct, but half the crap that people take including myself: high protien, creatine, pre-workout NO products im sure have crap in it that has a negative effect on my overall inner health, but im willing to sacrifice that for overall appearance.

You have to experiment... some people do great on low carb diets. No hunger, no blood sugar swings, no mood problems, better acuity. Personally I feel like complete crap, no pumps in the gym, legs feel like gumbo due to no glycogen, get pissed at everybody for no reason, sleep like crap, etc... people respond differently.

Yep, I know what you mean. It's different for each individual, but so far so good for me. Who knows how I will react the first time someone offers me a doughnut though? lol

I've been on CHA for about 3 weeks, some days I feel great, some days I hate the world. I think starting next week I'll be re-introducing carbs back.

Pertaining to 3:
When looking for an appropriate multi vitamin this summer, I found some of the supplements to be pushing the UL for some of the vitamins and minerals. Many do eclipse the RDA or AI, but for many water soluble vitamins this is not a big deal. In general, yes a lot of the vitamins from bodybuilding companies have way more than you need. That's why I bought Opti-Men and I only take 2 tablets out of the 3 that make up one of their serving sizes. I find it wise to buy vitamins where their serving size is more than one tablet, and where the tablets are uniform so you can more easily customize the amount of supplementation.

To add: There are 4 fat soluble vitamins (meaning that they stick around in your fat tissue) which are A,D,E, and K. You can for sure overdose on them if you are taking way above the recommended amount every day.
The other vitamins are water soluble, meaning that what your body can't use it urinates out.
I think what your doctor was trying to say was that if you go to GNC and spend a crapload on vitamins that have 500% of the daily value that you could either harm your health (fat soluble) or you'll be wasting your money because you'll just pee the extra out anyway.
Find a vitamin that you can either take half of at a time, or that requires more than one pill/tablet for one serving. This way you can control what you're taking in. And don't forget that your food is loaded with vitamins. A pill is not always the answer.

Thank you for your answer, greatly appreciated. I've been told that my vitamins are mega dosed and I should switch them.

FWIW I was taking 4g of Vitamin C a day, had blood tested, and my Vitamin C level was at the lowest possible level before scurvy. So high levels of water soluble vitamins aren't necessarily being wasted. My body was doing something with the 4g a day. What, I don't know! lol
