high carb/low carb diet

To lose fat it is recommended to use carb manipulation in which you vary your carb intake. Very low carb days alternate with cheat days on which you upper your carb intake and lower the proteins to prevent the body from adapting and trigger the fat-loss.
My problem is I'm not sure when to use those cheat days/meals. Is it better to upper the carbs on off days or on the days you go to the gym ?
In my opinion it 's better to train on low carb days to force the body to use stored fat as fuel but I just want to make sure.
Can anybody help ?
