Check out my article on EliteFTS
For those of you that don't know me, I used to be a regular in PL section. Now I post a lot more in the MMA section. This is because I fight instead of lift in meets nowadays.
I submitted an article to EliteFTS about how powerlifting has carried over to fighting. Definately written from a PL perspective.
Y'all tell me what you think.

thx guys. I've only fought once as an amture, so I'm 1-0. I really just train and lift as a hobby. I'm not trying to go pro or anything.

GJDM.
Any insights on training for your hips and legs as a fighter? I normally include full olympic lifts and alternating front/back squats in my lifting, but was wondering how to include posterior chain "accessory" lifts.

I still do my compounds as far as squats and deads, and try to hit them pretty heavy. It never ceases to amaze me though, how some skinny grapplers with stick legs feel like their legs are stong as hell once they get wrapped around you. A lot of these guys don't do much of any leg work in the weight room.
Id say use your weight room work to be strong overall, sticking with compounds etc, and lift explosively, like an athelete rather than a bodybuilder. This will carry over into power with quickness, good for stand up, clinching, locking up high, finishing a shot or throw, etc.
Then you have a whole other side of hip and leg strength that shows up when shrimping, sweeping, biting in a high guard to set up a sub, and that kind of stuff. I think this type of strength and leverage is acquired though grappling and grappling only. This is why guys that do absolutley no weight room work can feel strong on the mat.
I can't help but think they could be even stronger though, if they still did their squats
