on leg days i always start with heavy squats after a proper warm up.
i usually do 5 sets of 3-5 reps as heavy as i can go
will this build hypertrophy aswell as strength in the legs?

While we're having this thread about squats i have a question! To put some serious size on your legs many people warm up then do 1x20 of difficult weight. I've read quite a few stories and have seen many pictures of before and after. My question is if i do 275x20 or 295x20 i would put on some size(i can do 275x20) and would i get stronger or just more conditioned? I want to be able to do 405x10 sometime soon but so far ive done 5x5(Up to ~390) and 225x20 at the end. Any thoughts?

what do you want to know, there's lots of ways to do 5 x 5 but the most prominent ways are
1) do 4 warm up sets and 1 work set and increase when you feel you can
2) do 2 warm up sets and 3 work sets or 5 work sets and increase when you can get all the work sets.
you can google madcow 5 x 5 or dan john 5 x 5 for some good info.'Prior to the Department of Education, there was no illiteracy'
