Post Baby Body Building
Hello All! I am still alive & well. My body still belongs to my new daughter, Maya Elena, but I am working on retrieving my shape again. I last weighed in at about 190 lbs pre-baby, and I am now down to 158 lbs as of 4 weeks post baby. WooHoo... 32 lbs. at least. Below are my official stats & goals.
Weight: 158 lbs.
Omron BF: 27.6%
Upper Arm: 11.5"
Chest: 36.5"
Stomach (at belly button): 34.5"
Hips/Butt: 43"
Upper Thigh: 25"
Long Term Goal: 140 lbs. by Christmas
Short Term Goal: Drink at least 8 cups of water, Stop wearing maternity pants
I plan to continue walking as I have been since Maya was born. I also have tubes & DBs for in home work. I start teaching aerobics again beginning in November.
Ok, as you can imagine, I have stuff to do, but I wanted to get in here as fast as possible. I need you ladies... as usual

Thursday October 23rd, 2008
Wow, yesterday ended up being the worst day to start a "program". I woke up at 7am to Tom tapping me awake. His dad, who lives in Richmond 2 hours away, had a TIA aka a precursor to a stroke. Therefore, Tom was out of town from 7am to 9:30pm. I didn't know he'd be away so long so I trudged through the day like Supermom without a nap, going to the grocery store, bank, and Target with Maya. I was d-e-a-d by late afternoon. I didn't get to workout, *but* I didn't eat crazy either. If anything, I didn't eat enough, honestly. I never thought I would forget to eat or not be hungry. It's very odd. I go about 2 hours in the morning before I get breakfast. I wake up to her needing fed. For the first time in 4 weeks Tom used partial formula because I couldn't pump enough. Yet another reason I was extremely stressed yesterday.
On a positive note, I went to the grocery store, and of course, everyone "ooooed" & "ahhhed" at Maya, but one woman asked, "How old is she?" I said, "4 weeks", and she replied, "You look great." That really kept me upbeat for a few hours. Mom said I weigh less than her now.
Ok, I must reply to you all & visit a few journals. Thanks for all your support so far, and I *will* use my tubing today for a WO.

Tara - My stomach still feels not like my own. It's really wierd. When I'm nursing, I'm crunched over, and I can feel the flab. Yikes
Joan - I like feeling her head with my cheek. So soft. Or when I'm nursing, I just run my hand down over her hair.
Indiglo & Girl - Thanks for stopping by. I *feel* great. Not perfect, but great.
Elle - Nice to see a new name around. Hope to find your journal & keep an eye on you, too. Give me time though. I don't have much of it these days.

Hey girl, don't worry about missing out a workout... Maya is only 4 weeks and you are breastfeeding, concentrate on that and roll in to working out slowly.... Honestly enjoy your time now.... you have enought going on by taking care of the new born ..... don't stress about working out.... Don't make it a priority you will have enough time to do that... Concentrate on producing enough milk that is really really important.... Mind you this is coming from someone who went through what you are going through and wish I didn't concntrate or feel bad about not working when my baby was that young.....
Enjoy your time with her.... don't you diet!!! Just eat enough and really breastfeeding is a workout in itself

Your in a really great spot with your body for 4 weeks post pregnancy! What an adorable baby
I'm sure the breastfeeding will pull most of that fat off for you, and your goal looks very attainable!

Well, the wknd was a bust WO wise. Eating was ehhh/ok. Not awful not great. We went to a Halloween party Sat night & up to PA on Sun to visit my aunt & grandma.
FINALLY, today I got smart! Tom came home for lunch, & as soon as Tom took Maya, I bolted for the elliptical. I got 20 mins *and* a shower. Yep, I'm good ;^)
I would've never believed you if you told me I'd forget to eat, but it is happening. I got 3 meals today, and none of them were before I left for work. So I get to work, & I realize I'm starving. My coworker was nice enough to pick me up a Nutri-grain bar. Not ideal but better than starving. I'll shove something in after work hopefully, too. Hmmm... Earlier bed time or eat? Hard decision.

Charity - Nice to see you back girl!!!
Terra - I'm hoping the breastfeeding will help. It has so far. Thank goodness!
Girl - I'm not really dieting. I need to eat more honestly. Sadly.
Sexy - Thx for the compliment. I think this must be my 20th journal by now. *sigh*

Tuesday was a good day. I was able to get in 30m walking uphill slowly on my treadmill. I strapped Maya into the front carrier, & off I went. I'm doing the same today actually. I can also leave Homer out of his cage for longer without worrying. He's still adjusting to not being the king of the castle. My eating was erratic. Too many granola bars.
Last night I interpreted for a gala. I did the speeches, and then another terp did the band performance. They had Huey Lewis & the News. I stayed for about 5 songs. It was so much fun. I love my job... most days. It was an org that serves group homes, and Huey had some of the residents up on the stage, and people were dancing in the aisles. Just lots of fun.
Ok. I'm walking & watching Days of Our Lives atm so I best pay attention.

Girl & Irish - Now that I've figured out how to WO somewhat, I'm starting to think abt how to eat & drink water more effectively. My goodness, this is a different world, motherhood. Good & do-able but different.

Wednesday I got 40 mins walking at 5% on my Treadmill, and Thursday I did 20 mins at Level 7 on my Elliptical. I set the Elliptical to be like mud so I wouldn't bounce Maya around too much in her carrier. It also burned a crap load of cals. Friday was a break & today will be as well since we have family coming in from out of town. Tomorrow, I go back to teaching my Sunday Step class. *bites nails nervously*
Tom's dad, his wife, Tom's sister, her husband, new baby, and my parents are coming to visit. Phew... My townhouse isn't big enough! Lil Danny was born 1 wk before Maya at 31 wks. Heather was induced early due to kidney issues. She started going vaginal, but he swished around to breach when her water broke so she went C-section. He got outta the NICU at abt 4 wks. Thank goodness.
Tom & I might get out to the movies tonight. Dad offered for them to stick around for babysitting while we go. They just sit & stare at Maya for fun. They're too good to us.
Ok, I have to do a short job today so I best look ready before my client shows up.

Hey Sasha!
You reminded me of the days when I would put both my children , Evan and Emily into the stoller and I would 'speed walk' with them around the neighborhood.
(keep in mind they weren't tiny babies....prolly, 2 and 4 IE: Heavy!)

I believe by doing that regularly, as my cardio, I dropped a lot of lbs.
Of course that was also during my 'fat-free' craze....before I knew better about diet.
So back then I was a 'skinny fat'.
So keep walking with Maya....it's great for the both of you

Lymbo - You're a spokes model? That's awesome. Thx for the comp. I only hope I'm as successful as you have been post baby.
Joan - re: skinny fat - We all did some crazy things in the name of what we believed was "healthy".
Well, if toting your kids around for WOs got you where you are today then I must be following in good footsteps.

Well, it's been 2 days in the gym daycare so far, & all is well! I time it up so she's napping when I go. We'll see if that continues to work.
This has allowed me to get in regular WOs. WooHoo. I feel awesome. I still feel soft so I'm workin' on it. I think I have a mini-goal of reaching 155. If I do by Sun, I'll buy a new piece of WO clothing when mom comes to visit.
Another mini-goal which is bugging me is my wedding rings not fitting. I would really love to get them on again. They keep getting stuck on my knuckle.
Tomorrow is my 6 wk ob/gyn check-up. I hope all is well, mostly for my husband's sake ;^) I wouldn't mind being approved for "action either. Haha
