I'm nearly 32 years old and the only time I was ever social was when I was smoking tobacco or drinking. Tobacco instantly changed my mood and I was super euphoric and happy all of the time. Since I quit these things in 2014-2015 I've barely talked to anyone. Just like when I was younger. I barely even want to go to the store or anything. I just buy stuff online.

Only time I want to socialize is if I'm smoking tobacco or I'm doing one of my hobbies like storm chasing. Also I have ran into a few people I had a strong connection with but it only happens like once every 6 years on average.

The doctors don't know what is wrong with me.

Not FA but I've definitely become more anti-social since turning 30 and quitting drinking some years ago.

It's funny because in my teens, I was always the guy calling everybody on Wednesday and Thursday, looking for a free house to party in over the weekend.

Chit gets old fast.

I'm also one of those types where it takes alcohol to open up and feel euphoric.

Quit drinking a year ago and rarely go out anymore.

Although I do get dates and hook up with women, i feel alone all the time.

Im also old now "44" and maybe i just dont care anymore, who knows.

The friends i do have are married and never want to hang out or do anything, which is understandable living the family life and all.

But I don’t believe that because whenever anyone comes to talk to me we talk and talk and talk and I’m extremely outgoing.

But I never seek it or go up to others. So if they never came to speak to me I’d never speak to anyone ever.


But when they do come to me I’m very outgoing like I said I’ll just never initiate convo because I don’t need/care too.


Is that anti social ?

I'm a happy drunk and get way more social with two drinks in me. But when my mood drops from "life is OK" to "fuk the world", even alcohol doesn't pull me out of it. And trying to drink a bunch to get out of it is a quick path to dependancy.

That’s because you were still youngish and naive and went with the flow. And I’ll say I was the same. I guarantee our personalities are extremely similar because of our age and how you think/view things. Idk what the answer is. We don’t have social groups because we really don’t need them. Being able to handle being alone is a good thing but it usually comes at a cost. Most people can’t handle being alone. But As the years go by being good at being alone tends to lead to not having much a life unless you grab up a decent woman/significant other or rot.

But If you’re not into the dating apps/ and work in a male dominated field, with no social group WTF are you supposed to do?

Just know you are not alone in this mindset man. I totally get it
