Casein that's easy to digest
Hi, I'm looking for suggestions on a brand that has Casein protein that at least has a decent taste. I currently have ON Gold Standard Casein that I bought so that I can take before I go to bed, but no matter how I mix it I think it's just disgusting.. Any suggestions?

WOW...really? I love ON Casein (Vanilla). I drink it every night before bed. I usually mix mine in the blender with banana, strawberries, low fat cottage cheese, a splash of water, and lots of ice...taste like an icecream shake.
Have you ever tried it this way? What flavor do you have? I also have the ON Banana Cream Casein and it's discusting. Some protein flavors are much better than others.

I haven't tried the vanilla, right now I have chocolate supreme and it's just sitting on top of my refrigertor because I just can't stomach it. I'll be trying the vanilla thanks for the tip.

You noticed that too huh.... That ON casein (chocolate) is so lumpy and gross that I have a half container in my pantry that I will not touch with a 10 foot pole. Do you notice it has a taste like cherries behind the supposed "chocolate" taste /gag

Mix it with your whey. You should not be using straight casein anyhow.

BSN-Syntha 6 mixes very well and tastes awesome. The only thing is that it's higher in carbs and fats. Fats aren't so bad at night, but the carbs may not be so good - depending on what your diet looks like.
BSN-Lean Dessert is a good sustained release too.

Unlike a slow digesting whole food, which gets aminos into your system as it breaks down, casein forms a gel and doesn't even start digestion for hours. When you add other sources that have faster rates, you at least are not fasting until the casein starts breaking down.

The best options for slow digesting powder are blends that contain casein, or a MPI.

M-drive from bio-test was really good, I tried banana, strawberry and chocolate. Loved all of them. Currently using vitamin worlds milk and egg protein powder, and it's not bad. I throw a scoop in with some vanilla whey and it's pretty good.

Hmmm...this is interesting. Never heard this before. I do my workout at night...usually just a few hours before bed. I normally have a casein shake as posted above...should I break it up 1/2 whey and 1/2 casein. I was always told that casein was best before bed??? Thanks.

Try Xtreme Formulations Ultra Peptide or Ultra Peptide 2.. the UP2 is absolutely amazing, you won't go back to ON casein.

I have the ON Choc. Supreme too....had it since April. Its the only Optimum product I have been dissatisfied with and the only time I take it is when I haven't met my calorie/protein intake throughout the day.
I think it must just be that flavor though....ive heard raves about the vanilla, if i can ever get through the choc thats what Im going to go for

Definitely break it up. You need something in your system to replenish your muscles then, not hours later.

Any slow digesting protein will do. Steak is a good one.
