A lot of people on here suggest that you should lift (along with a great diet) to lose weight and gain muscle. But I am also seeing you're not supposed to train arms everyday, and that your arms need 48 hours of rest. If that's true then what is the point? Two days without the gym, and i'm back at baby weight. Should I lift every other day and do cardio in between those days?

Lifting and cardio doesnt make you lose fat, thats calorie deficit. Lifting and correct macros will improve body composition in a surplus and deficit. You dont lift to lose weight though. Why only arms? If you are a novice you need to get your strength up on a full body strength routine firstly if you dont want to be spinning your wheels. Do cardio if you want to or just eat less, it has the same effect.
There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

When you train chest you can't avoid working your tri's some (arms). When you train back you can't avoid training bi's some (arms). Leaving chest and back training out of a routine is a huge mistake. There are tons of good beginner routines that you can find here on this site. Basically if you have two of the following somewhere in your rotation you will have a hard time going wrong. Bench press, squats and deadlifts. Specifically training arms is not going to be significant starting out and if have fat on the back of your arms you are trying to get rid of it doesn't work that way. The fat comes off the whole body.

Monday - Chest
Tuesday - Back
Wednesday - Legs
Thursday - Shoulders & Abs
Friday - Bi's and Tri's
Saturday - Rest if you want, otherwise can do Chest or Back or Legs if you want
Sunday - Rest if you want, otherwise can do Chest or Back or Legs if you want
Pretty simple there is no real "arm" day lifting is not restricted to "arms" you use your arms a lot for most things but with proper form you shouldnt be putting most of the squeeze on them etc. It's recommended to have a tleast 1 day off a week, you can throw in cardio if you want to lose weight faster and stay leaner but you haven't given any stats or what your goals are so idk.
Also you can train abs / calves almost every day as they don't really need much recovery time.
