How **** are australian gun laws?

Heres the gist.

1. You must seek permission to join a club
2. You must compete in 3 competitions in 6 months
3. You receive a Category H Handgun licesne.
A course must be done in that 6 months.

4. your limited to ONE handgun in the first 12 months.
5. No Calibre over .38!!!
6. Barrel must be over 120mm!!!!!!!
7. LIMIT to 10 shot Magazines!.

= Gay

We have a modified Glock 17 with a long foreskin barrel which looks pathetic

Didnt know much about Dunblane (just read wikipedia), But obviously know alot of port arthur, yes was tragic, a complete ****up by the police tho, He was shooting for hours and hours!. Obviously the law needed to be tighten to ween out mental unstable people, but legit owners shouldn't suffer from that.

Our Prime Minister was a sellout arsehole tho, He reacted with what the "oh someone think of the children" crowd would want, He even turned up to a Meeting with gun owners wearing a bulletproof vest, a drama queen.

However at that stage handgun law wasn't too bad. out went the AR10s and all that. But you still wern't totally pussified with handguns. Then some international student went on a spree in melbourne in 2002. Then the ball vice gets tightened further.

I was lucky enough to fire just small .22's before the law got REAL bad, I mean when I went you could load the gun and it wasnt stuck to a ****ing stick!. Yes that's right you go to a range now and it's locked into a stick so it only faces towards the target. How fun.

I'm looking to get back into it, looking at the Norinco 1911 clones, a glock 34, or the 92fs or even a S&W 686.

and yes Cell-Tech Daddy if your a licenced guard you can use a shottie, and the barrel doesn't apply, it's also Illegal to have a bulletproof Vest, you need to be licensed for that too.

And we are meant to be convicts and criminals, where's the force?

Oh and crime is just as **** here, We have immigrants and pretty much wigga gangs trying to immitate the american ganstas, instead of guns it's knifes. We still have holdups with syringes/knifes/screwdrivers. and the odd gun robbery. these restrictions do **** all good except rob enjoyment.

well, there are obviously going to be less gun murders there are less guns.

Americas culture is much different than ours, + there are some nutters in the states (yes been) I can understand very well why someone would want to be packing heat in some places.

I was in new orleans, in some ghetto suburb with bail bond stores everywhere, talk about a ghetto!.

Pretty sure there are euro countries with many guns per capita and they have much lower murder rate than the states, so it's not that simple.

either a farmer, or you are in a gun club and have a medical condition that means you have no other choice but to use a pump/semi-auto shotgun.

I am getting my firearms lisence at the end of the year.

I have to do a 8 hour sfety course (even though I am military.....) join a rifle club (no probs since i will shoot there) then wait 28 days before I can obtain the licence.
