Day 5 (24/08):
Squat ; 3x5 @ 75kg (143lbs) up 5kg (11 lbs) from previous workout
Bench Press ; 1x5 @ 45kg (99 lbs), 55kg (121 lbs) and 50kg (110 lbs) up 5kg (11 lbs) from previous workout(see analysis)
Deadlift ; 1x4 @ 120kg (265lbs) up 10kg (22lbs) from previous workout
Analysis:
First I'd like to give a shout out to Rozzr for coming to the gym with me to support me on the bench after my dreadful session last time.
Squats started off great, bit slow and nearly failed on the 2nd set, but completed the 3rd set with good speed. Will however only progress by 2.5kg (5.5 lbs) for my next workout to prevent stalling.
Bench .. the dreaded muda****ing bench! Failed last time @ 47.5kg. Got in and quickly noticed the mistake i made last time ... my grip was waaay too narrow. Corrected the grip, and lifted the first 45kg (99 lbs) with ease. Then Rozzr did his set, after which i jumped back on for set 2 of 45kg (99 lbs). Lifted the bar off, went down ... mmm. Seemed a lot tougher .... but i completed all 5 reps with slow speed on the last 2 reps, after which i noticed i'd loaded 55kg (110lbs) instead of 45kg (99 lbs)! lol
decided if i could do the 55kg, I'd do 50kg (105lbs) on the 3rd set, which i completed with normal speed. Will go for 52.5kg on the next workout
Deadlift .... should've read my own analysis from last time when i said i could feel the bar slipping away. I could only do 4 out of the 5 reps as my grip was soo lose on the 4th, i knew the bar would definately slip away on the 5th so didnt bother. Need to get myself some straps for next time, I've always had a weak grip anyway so this doesn't suprise me.
All in all, a good day! All lifts went up, surprised myself on the bench and now gata get ready to go out.
Thanks once again to Rozzr for coming out (no homo)

if i just went below parallel on the squats, im sure i could lift a lot more, but i like to take it all the way down when i squat so im happy at where its at at the moment, as long as i keep up'in the weight every workout

Day 6 (26/08):
Squat; 3x5 @ 75kg (165 lbs) up 5kg (11 lbs) from previous workout (see analysis)
Overhead Press; 3x5 @ 40kg (88 lbs) up 2.5kg (5.5 lbs) from previous workout
Bent Rows; 3x5 @ 50kg (110 lbs) up 2.5kg (5.5 lbs) from previous workout
Analysis:
Another good day. Was a bit worried as i went out last night and although i only had a couple of drinks, was kinda worried it would affect my performance today but it didn't.
Realised that in my last squat session when i claimed i did 75kg (165 lbs), i used the 15kg bar rather than the 20kg, so i only actually lifted 70kg. To be on the safe side, i did 75kg today and had no problems
No problems in other lifts! 2 days rest then back to work on wednesday from which I'll start adding dips, pull ups, bicep and tricep work to the workouts.

from fitday ( daily Average of last 7 days)
Calories: 3095
Protein: 282g
Carbs: 260g
Fat: 117g
got a load of chicken and meat this weekend. Looking forward to eating that this week
for one thing, it doesn't make my hands weak, it only affects my grip
and, it makes absolutely no sense to sacrifice the benefits of the deadlift just so i can have a little stronger grip. What do you suggest? i stick to deadlifting 120kg (265 lbs) comfortably until my grip improves? hell naw. My Grip has always been my weakest point. Some people can deadlift higher numbers before needing straps. True, but I'm not one of them.
I'm only using the straps for the 1x5 set though. All warmup sets will be done with my bare handsLast edited by tund3; 10-26-2008 at 10:44 AM.

Are you doing a single direction grip or alternating grip? Also chalk helps.. I only deadlift 185 right now (set pr today) but I'm just starting out and I do double overhands with chalk. Eventually I'll probably need to do alternating, but wondering if you had tried doing that. Makes it a lot easier to hold.

Day 7 (29/08):
Squat ; 3x5 @ 80kg (143lbs) up 5kg (11 lbs) from previous workout
Bench Press ; 3x5 @ 50kg (110 lbs) up 0kg (0 lbs) from previous workout(see analysis)
Deadlift ; 1x5 @ 120kg (265lbs) up 0kg (0 lbs) from previous workout
Dips ; 2x8, 1x6 @ BW
Analysis:
decided to stick with the same weight for the bench press as i had a confusing session last time so went for 3x5 today. Don't think i brought the bar low enough when i was doing them, and struggled to get the last few reps up but did. Might stick with this weight again for next workout as i really feel the bar didn't go low enough when i was doing them.
For deadlift, decided to try the mixed grip (thanks to all who suggested it) and since it would be my first try, i stuck to the same weight i did last time. Lifted it up quite comfortably with no grip issues like last time. Will up by 10kg (22 lbs) for the next workout
Dips seemed pretty difficult and I could only do 6 reps out of 8 on the last set. First time doing dips in a while though, should hopefully they'll get better.
Also attempted and successfully completed 1 rep of 140kg (309 lbs) on the deadlift. Was just wondering if i could lift 6 plates and did it.
