Damn 100 push ups, I can only do 45
I think push ups are good for visibility of muscles.
i don't mean attempt 100 right away build up, then try sets of 100 by then you'll have a great rackTHOSE WHO KNOW DON'T TALK AND THOSE WHO TALK DON'T KNOW

If anythign they will increase ytour upperbody endurance... at best. I like them but I don't think they help my BBing.
The most effective form of push-ups I have expiramented with and been most happy with if just doing them slowly. I have been doing pushups everyday for the last 5 years with the expection of missing 7 days due to an injury last month. Push-ups help you have better muscle control. As far as strength gains there will probobly be none. They do help reduce the strength losses when you are away from the gym for more than 2 months.Last edited by Jcfreak_02; 03-28-2003 at 02:12 PM.

03-29-2003, 01:37 AM #19If you think about it... pushups is kind of like a reverse bench press, so I would think it would work nearly the same muscles (pecs, tris, delts).
im actually into body building to define my muscles; have more definition. im not into gaining mass or anything else cos if i gain mass i'll look short. but it doesnt matter anyways cos im short (5' 3" bastard)... i know cardio helps a lot but does push-ups give me more definition?
very honestly, i prefer a physique like john cena from the WWE than any pro body builders.. he's very defined.
yeah and another thing... everyone says that push-ups are amateuristic, can anyone here do a one-handed push up? if yes, can you please tell me methods?? thanks.. =)

one good thing about pushups is its a bodyweight exersice. therefore you can do them anyday u want, just put pushups in the mornin or midafteroon and lift in the evening or later that night. . it trains cardiovascular fibers so therefore it doesnt matter if ur body is sore from weightliftin or not, its trianin a different fiber. But i wouldnt recomend to do pushups on chest day or tricep day. since ur trainin the cardiovascular fibers you want to be doing them mid fast or fast, not slow and ****.
i recomend spacin it out at least 8 hrs because it takes 8hr to recover from cardio. so pushups at 10am and lift at 6-pm something like that, doesnt nesscarily have to be a 8 hr difference but thats just to show u u shouldnt be doing pushups 2 hrs before u lift with weights .. ya know? use at least a 5 hr difference or soLast edited by LiFtInIsFuN; 03-29-2003 at 08:43 AM.

i hated push ups coz at the end of boxing we would get hammered with them, especially if you have done a chest work out the day before. I would think push ups are more for stamina and strength rather than gaining muscle mass ( of course they will develope muscle ) but you know if your on holiday or cant get the gym for what ever reason i do them and you can do them in different postions putting you feet one the stairs to add more pressure on the pectural muscles

wow 3 sets of 65 is good man. i havent really been doing pushups, but im gonna do them on like every off day except for 1 so thats like 2x a week. i did pushups for 20 mins today combined with 1/4th ab crunches and pikes. and went on the bike for 40 mins. i can only do like 40 pushups max right now at once but i did sets of 25-30, did 6 sets. i cant wait to be doing sets of 50. that **** would be ILL. lol GET ILL WITH IT! lol
