If we are price elastic, we will spend the same amount of money on these imports; the unit volume goes down, yielding no negative effect on the Balance of Trade. If we are not very sensitive to changes in price then we will buy almost as many as before, and our total expenditure on those goods will go up and this will negatively impact the Balance of Trade. Studying American views on the price elasticity and unit elasticity of imports is very important when determining importing effects on the Balance of Trade."

It's that time of year again, where we have to get large sums of money and go to the mall and listen to countless jokes about people really "feeling the holiday spirit" in the parking lot, but in an effort to make your holiday season as painless as possible, I have decided to bring an important matter to your attention. Here's the problem. I, as a part of society, am *required* to say "Happy Holidays" (or some derivative thereof) to everyone I see. This is simply a waste of time and energy. As a proof, lets say that I have 'n' people in my "group" (counting myself). I am required to say n-1 "happy holidays" (I don't have to say it to myself). Now here's the kicker, all 'n' people have to say n-1 happy holidays, this amounts to a total of n(n-1) = n^2 - n happy holidays being said. From an efficiency standpoint, n^2 - n has a O(n^2)*.

As a computer science major, this is unacceptable. We, as a society, have chosen a system which has terrible efficiency, but, with the dawn of computers, I think I know how to fix that.

Let's say I send out an e-mail (or create a facebook group) to my 'n' friends saying "happy holidays". Now, I have only said "happy holidays" once. If my 'n' friends do the same, only n "happy holidays" has been said. (n has a O(n)**)

This is, from an efficiency standpoint, a far better solution. Thus, let me be the first to wish you a Happy, and algorithmically efficient, Holiday season.

I strongly urge you to accept any holiday greetings posted in this group as an official greeting from that person, and urge you to post your greetings here, for all your friends to see.

P.S. For the record, all I have really done is moved the efficiency problem from my mouth to facebooks servers, as it has to send my 1 happy holidays to n people, thus n (recipients) * n (senders) = n^2 from there server's standpoint, but I'm willing to discount this based on the fact that I have to look at there crappy "are you single and a moron?" advertisements. Note to any facebook programmers who see some performance issues, I didn't do it.

nothing is set in stone but i think i will be in cleveland next weekend doing some store visits, then the week before christmas I will be in Detroit for demos and such...then after new years i will be heading to FLA to see the area and do more demos
