Awesome to break 2 records in a meet. Crazy to still end up with 2nd place, especially crazy when you didn't miss any lifts at all!

Notes
Used the wrist wraps for bench press today. Felt a lot stronger with them. Pretty fast bar speed up until the last set. Wanted to fool around on the rings instead of power cleans.

Awesome job at the meet bro. 9/9 lifts, 4 personal records, 2 state records, that comp was just full of win. Second place is still a hell of a job in my book. How far behind were you in total? That just means you gotta hammer bench, then go back and set 2 more state records on squats/deadlifts and out-bench everyone too
For maintainable progress on bench, I would probably recommend a run on Macenko bench over Smolov Jr, or just stick with TM. I did a cycle of SJ back in August. I failed my max attempt afterwards, was probably only good for a gain of 10, maybe 15 lbs at most. Also, while the large amount of volume really helped me dial in my form, I really didn't gain anything on my 5RM. The reviews I've read seem to be consistent with my experience, it's better for peaking for a max attempt (though I didn't gain much anyway), but most people don't retain much if any actual strength increases. Macenko seems to be more of a mix of the two, good for peaking towards a max attempt, but also gaining strength that can be retained. I was going real good on Macenko, felt like I was easily on pace for a 25-30 lb increase until I got sick, had to take a week off, and completely fell out of my groove.Powerlifting Log - http://tinyurl.com/jshaw5

Awesome meet! You done fu**ing good.
Can't wait to see what you try with bench. I think trying something else is a good idea. You've made slow and steady progress but it's not awe inspiring like your squat and deadlift gains. I'm sure you have more in you if you find a good training method.Powerlifter 160/100/195/455kg @ 91.55

Was very busy last week and I only started to have some free time this Monday. Going on vacation on Friday, so that is why I have just been doing random cardio stuff. I will get back to the weights once I return.
Thanks a lot. I think I was 20 or 30 lbs off for the total.
I think it was just a bad set. Rest times are pretty consistent. Not sure if I will stick with triples or go back to sets of five. I am sure when I get back to the weights I will need to reset either way.
Thanks. Not sure what I will do with bench press at this point.
Going to try and stick with that once I get back to training. I like that setup because I can do both ring stuff and power cleans. Hopefully the late night cleans won't get in the way of volume squat the next night.SFW

Went to Florida. I really like the rings. They are a lot different than working with just a straight bar for pull-ups or dips. I only started using them because the knurling in the strength and conditioning room I train at on Tuesdays and Fridays was tearing my hands apart. They are mostly for fun at this point.
