COGNITIVE NUTRITION PRESENTS L-THEANINE!!!
What is it???
GABA Precursor That Supports Mental Relaxation!
L-Theanine (gamma-ethylamino-L-glutamic acid) is a non protein forming amino acid found in trace amounts in green tea. It converts in the brain into GABA, the neurotransmitter involved in inhibiting over active mental activities, such as stress. Unlike sedating herbs theanine protects & enhances cognition, without causing sleepy or drowsiness. Also unlike other GABA compounds like Phenibut there is no withdrawal effect.
* Increases GABA levels - Reduces physical/mental stress, improves sleep & relaxation
* Increases Dopamine release - Enhances focus, mood, and memory
* Glutamate receptor antagonist (AMPA, Kainate, NMDA) - Neuroprotective
Dosage
The bottle says to take 1-2 pills daily (500 mg/each). I'm going to start out by taking two each day. It should give me a pretty good chance to grasp the effects of L-Theanine.
What will I be logging?
I will be logging my levels of stress experienced throughout the day and if this product has much of a calming effect on me. I want to see if this product can make me a little less wound up from things that would normally cause me a lot of stress. At the moment I am dealing with a heavy class load and working quite a bit. I hope this helps ease my stress!!!
Day #1: I had a big test today but I found myself feeling a little less anxious and somewhat chill when the time approached to take the test. I took my L-Theanine (1,000 mg) at 6 AM this morning and felt quite relaxed leading up to my 10 AM test. I'm always at least a bit anxious leading up to tests but this was noticeably different than the norm for me. Was it the L-Theanine? We shall see if this kind of relaxed feeling repeats itself as the days go by. I have 4 more tests this week so I'll have a good chance to gage the effects and compare them! Stay tuned...
