becoming a personal trainer (need advice)

i want to become a personal trainer, so i can earn some money in college. what kind of certifications do i need or should i be looking at. I know im also gonna need books to study, is there anywhere in particular i should buy them, any books in particular you would suggest? is there anything i should know about being, or trying to become a personal trainer i should know ahead of time?

i rep people who help ( or as many as i can)

It depends on whether or not you will be working in a gym. Gyms typically have a small set of certifications they accept, so you should get one of those. Whether you work in a gym or on your own, you couldn't go wrong with getting a NCCA accredited certification (you can view the list at http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...1&postcount=3), especially if it was one of the big three: ACSM, NASM, and NSCA

You will also need a CPR certification. If you work as an independent, you will also need liability insurance and business forms (i.e. waivers, screening questionnaires, sign-up forms, contracts).

Once you select a certification, you can either buy the materials from the certifying organization or bookstores like Amazon.

1. Be prepared to learn a lot about how your body works.
2. You are your own best testimonial. Make sure you are in the best shape you can be.

Good Luck!

Here most gyms want NASM cert. I believe almost all gyms want or will accept this. If they require something else, they'll probably take this until you can get what they require.
