I think it is just kind of weird. I am not even talking about the whole wheel chair bodybuilder thing that is weird too (maybe pointless), but once a fat disgusting slob always a fat disgusting slob. Now you just don't look like a fat pathetic slob, but it is still the same person on the inside. Chaning how you look doesn't change who you are.

I mean seriously though... I doubt you looked good before your accident, why be motivated now when you can't even do anything? I know I will probably get a backlash from all the "feel goods" out there, but too little too late...

So yea I would just go play some video games or something or back to doing whatever you did while sitting before your accident.

Why wait for something bad to happen to motivate you to be better???

When you're in an accident like we were, life changes. A LOT! You finally realize what's important. Personal health being one. Not to mention all the painful **** we have to go through to have a life.

That being said, I'm not a bodybuilder. Just a PT. I also promote health/fitness in my own way. Nick's a great guy with a great outlook! All of the chair bodybuilders rock!

Thanks! I do cardio, 1&1/2-2 hours a day 6 days a week. I use to push myself in the wheelchair, than I sat on the floor behind a bike and peddled with my hands. Now I can do it on an elliptical as long as I unstrap my braces and hold on. It was over 10 years that my cardio evolved LOL

HAHA To lose bodyfat, diet & cardio is everything. For my body type, high protein and low carbs works for me. I consume around 300-400 grams of protein a day. Then add 1&1/2 - 2 hours a cardio a day for 6 days a week, do that for about 4 months and you will get cut LOL

I can walk a short distance but my balance is S***. I cannot feel below my knees and I lose my balance easy. I would never be able to stand for that long of time and be able to hit the poses, I would fall pretty easy. I know it confusing to some but I wished I could just go out there on stage. I can work my legs some but specific muscles are still weak and I struggle with the base plate. But my quads are strong and I can Leg Press a lot. It's crazy but it is what it is and I am grateful for that.

Before my accident I had a full time job & was active in all sports. I just got off work and was heading to football practice when my front tire blew. My accident was the Aug 98 and those pictures were the summer of 99. When something happens in life there is a healing process and when you are told that you would never walk again, it hits hard and you could care less about life. Then you see yourself helpless and can barely move from then on you have a choice...

You're easy to judge but what you see is not because I was lazy or didn't want to change. Those pictures are of when I strived for something greater in my life and I was already almost a year into my rehab.

As for the motivation... I felt I lost everything but the one thing that I still had was that I could be stronger than everybody. And that is when I started Bench Pressing again with my chest brace on.

Thank You! That day I almost died I wondered for years, "Why Me" and looking back I realized I was given a give and that was a second chance... Be grateful, because life is a beautiful gift...

No problems, I just hope people can see that no matter what happens in life, there is always a way to see the light in a hole of hell...

You are a true inspiration to me man... When I first signed into the Air Force this summer I was 175 and rather pudgy. I blamed it on having a bad knee and shoulder from sports injuries when I was younger (not to mention the poor genetics line). After adding you on Myspace and hearing your story it motivated me to be the best I could be. I'm now 155 at 6' 1" and for the first time in my life I have confidence and my low self esteem that plagued me all my life is completely gone. I leave for basic training November 17th and I know I have a far better chance in there because of you...

    Thanks..

Keep your head up high and if you want to get big & cut, just remember... Lifting does NOT get you bigger, leaner or stronger. Lifting tears the muscle fibers when you put stress on that muscle. It is when the muscle has a chance to heal that is when you get bigger & stronger! Nutrition and diet is SOOOOO Important because that will speed up the healing proces. When a protein is broken down is will turn into amino acids and from then the amino acids will help heal the muscle. My results is not because of how I lift... It is because of my nutrition. That is the KEY!!!

    Good luck and God Bless!
