Hello everyone. This past weekend I competed in the Victor Martinez Body building Competition in Perth Amboy, NJ. What an experience that was. I won the masters and 1st place novice and overall novice. It was definitely more than I expected. The guys that competed with me made the experience even greater. ...everyone very nice and humble. I def. have the hunger to do more contest now. Being a part of the NJ body building community is a great feeling. Many thanks to those that have added advice and imput to the threads. If it wasn't for that, I would have been lost on my journey to compete. I came on this board everyday to read what others did, how they dieted and prep for a contest. It made a huge difference with how I went about my prepping.
I'm going to enjoy this feeling for a fews days and get back to work in the gym. Time to take it to another level.
Gratz man! a great accomplishment. It is amazing that after being focused on only the goal you often find once you are there it is more about the people with you than the goal itself.
Great job. Savor the moment.

Thanks my man. One of the best feelings I've havd in a long time. I'm def. going to savor this moment. Going to take a couple of days off to think about maybe doing another contest in a few weeks. I was asked by several promoters at the contest to do their show...So I may jump right back out there. But not before I eat some regular food for a day or two.
I was at the show last night... You were the one who went without music at first right???? I could tell you were really enjoying the experience, I loved the smile on your face. Your conditioning was exceptional and your confidence went unmatched. Keep working hard, you were made for this.

Being a real lifter is not about a number, or a medal, or somebody else telling you that you are a real lifter. It is about commitment to the iron and strength of purpose.

Wow!!! Thanks for that. My Cd didn't play. I was a little nervous at first but then I heard someone in the audience say do it without the music...so I did. It's an awesome experience. I had so much fun and the other competitors made it my experiece 100 times better. I do plan on doing another contest soon.
Thank you again. Truly appreciated

I didn't know he was doing one in the city. I will definitely do that one. I'm going to work on my legs a lot harder and come in a little bigger next time...but not over doing it. What was most shoking to me is how dry I got. Coming on this site and reading what others did to prep for a contest made a huge difference. i couldn't have done it without it. I don't think there was a day that went by that I wasn't on this site gathering information, for the last 12 weeks.

Yea, bodybuilding.com helps me a lot. It keeps me motivated, and helps obtain information I would NEVER be able to get anywhere else. Yea, Victor was telling me last night about the show. He said more information will be out in January about it, once I hear anything I will let you know. If you do the June show you will DEF. have enough time to gain a few lbs. of muscle while you are bulking. Your diet based upon your conditioning at the show last night must have been perfect. WHat was your diet like?

Dude you looked amazing man. I was there sitting near the back taking pics. Here's a pic I took with Victor. The dude is a BEAST. Also here's another one of Desmond Miller. Another Beast and will give Victor competition.
To have stood on stage, clad in nothing more then a thin strap of cloth to show the work, sweat, pain, and discipline that few have or ever will, to BEAR IT ALL and ask for judges and piers to look and accept your proclamation that "HERE! HERE I AM. I HAVE DONE THE FIGHT AND THE VICTORY IS MINE! DO YOU KNOW THE TEARS AND SACRIFICE THAT HAS ROT THIS SPIRIT THAT STANDS BEFORE YOU? HERE! JUDGE FOR YOURSELF! YET, KNOW THIS! I HAVE WON! NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY! NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO! I HAVE WON!
Congrats my brother in iron!

I ate about 5 meals with protien shakes. I cooked everything on the george forman grill for the last 5 weeks. That made a huge difference. The food was dry and nasty as hell. But it helped me get lean. I'm not a salt type of person...the sodium levels...I never even focus on. I did the 2 gallons of water a day and cut back that Thursday before the contest and Friday siped throughout the day. I didn't stop driling water all together. I so light headed during pre-judging. I had to drink some gateraide. Of course they was probably a lot more to my diet than I can remember...but this was typical for the prepping.
meal 1: 6-8 egg whites and some chicken breast
Meal 2: oatmeal with almonds, multi-vitamin
Meal 3: protien shake
Meal 4: chicken or turkey, brown rice and asparagus or broccolli
Meal 5: Protien shake
Meal 6: same as meal 4
Meal 7: sweet potatos and tuna
Meal 8: Fish, turkey or tuna with mixed veggies
Meal 9: If need before bed- protien shake

I would have to say that crowd was very kind. words can't even describe how I felt on Saturday. I kept the smile big and it paid off. Thanks for the feed back. Vitor is a monster. That dude Desmond Miller is huge. His leg were bigger than my enitre body...lol

That was beautiful!!! The type of quote that will keep me hungy for more. I will also put that quote up and live by that for the next contest.

It would have been awesome to have met someone off of this site. Wish I had reached out before the contest for some folks in Jersey. Next I will.
Thanks again
Great job on building your physique and for having the stones to get on the stage.

I bet a lot of people would have just stopped and waited till someone put the CD back on, going forward without it shows your ability to transcend even your own expectations.
Job well done!

Thank you my friend. It was worth it. I practiced a lot without the music...it made it even better just winging it.

Thank you my man...I appreciate that. I'm hungry for more. I have to get my legs up more, being that I could never do novice again. The competition just got elevated.
