Head Position for Shrugs?

Hi,

I implemented behind the back barbell shrugs into my routine today, and I felt a kink in my neck after a few sets. Im not in any pain now, but I assume I had my head/neck in the wrong position. Just wondering if anyone out there has any advice as to how to position my head/neck when doing them. Do i look forward, up, at the ground? Also, if you have any other tips for good trap exercises thatd be great. I'm a big fan of Dumbell shrugs.
