**OFFICIAL** Snowboarding and Skiing Thread! Plans? Gear? Tricks? Conditioning? GTFIH

    Anyone like to snowboard?

I'm gonna be getting into my second year here, and this year I hope to learn alot more. I've learned how to go down the hill, carve on both edges fine and everything. I started to hit a could smaller jumps near the end of the year and hope to start some rails early this season.

I'm hoping to hit up Mount St.Anne up in Quebec this year for a week and maybe go out west to BC if I can get making some coin this fall. Not too many serious hills in my area at least.

    My Bindings:

    Flow Amp-5
-they're good once you get them adjusted for your boots

    My Board:

    2007 Flow Diskord
    -164CM
-intermediate board, kinda cheap but it's fine for me

My boots aren't anything special, can't find them on here. AndI justrh ave a cheap paid of gogles.

    Whattup fellow snowboarder!

I am completely stoked about this season! I'm going to try to get into some snowboard photography this year, been wanting to do it for a while now!

So my buddies and I went to Steamboat Springs, Colorado last year for the Musicfest (http://www.themusicfest.com/) and it was ****ing awesome! The powder was amazing! We made it a pact for all of us to meet up every January at Steamboat. I definetely suggest you hit up sometime this winter, OP!

Here's my gear. Not spectacular, but it gets the job done on my college budget

    Arbor 155

    Ride LX

    32 Lashed

Looking into buying the Burton Zoom backpack for my camera before the season starts:

Here is some images from one of my favorite snowboard photographers, Nick Hamilton. His photos inspire me, hopefully they'll help pump you up for the season!

wooo the season is coming soon!
what parks you guys ride at? I hit up Northstar and Sierra-at-tahoe, both got some new good ratings in transworld for park.

Got a new Custom 08 at the end of the season, best time to get a new board, other than having to look at it all summer

My usual stomping grounds is Dodge Ridge since its the closest and cheapest for me, but I hit up the other parks too sometimes.

I've honestly never touched a video camera in my life, so that would be a no lol. I want to take some classes here at school on it though, I think it will help me out at being more versatile as a photographer if I know how to shoot with a video camera as well.

It's not a really big park, and only a couple of the expert runs I would actually call expert. It is mainly an intermediate park, but it is the cheapest I know of and there isn't much of a crowd like at Tahoe (big plus for me) and is closest (another big plus). From what I heard, the place doesn't close down during storms like some other parks do, if that is your cup of tea. It is mainly just a place for me to get my riding in, in between trips to better places.

Not too bad, but I haven't really been to alot of places.

I've been to Blue Mountain which is in Collingwood, Ontario.

    It's pretty decent.

I am HOPING to hit up Mount Sainte Anne this year up in Quebec:

Number of trails - 66 covering 69 km (42 miles), on 3 different sides
Night skiing - 17 trails covering 15 km (9 miles) on the highest vertical for night skiing in Canada

    Trail Breakdown

I'm still a noob but I learned to carve last season and this season I'm hoping to try a couple of small jumps. I live in Toronto so I only have access to a couple hills up north. Since this is a bodybuilding site and all, I was wondering what kind of exercises should I focus on to help with carving and jumping?

I absolutely love snowboarding... I live in south Louisiana though, so I'm stuck saving up year round for a 10 day / 2 week vacation to Colorado.

Sucks I can't ride more, when I lived in Colorado for a year I snowboarded 4 days a week.

I can't wait for this winter to arrive... planning a week up at Sugarbush, VT in Jan or Feb...

I had my hip replaced back in '03... the winter prior was the last time I was on the slopes. I've been itching to get back, and hopefully this winter will be it.

I have Blizzard 192's w/ Ess bindings... I kick it old skool.

Yup, planning on going to June for the season. Ive been doing intense squat training for the last year so my legs will hold up great, however my technique sucks. My toe-side carve is pretty weak, I usually chicken out and slowdown too much, thus using up too much energy.

Yeah, my toe-side has always kinda sucked at high speed, but switching between riding normal and goofy is no problem for me. Little wierd...

I can't wait to go snowboarding this season Slopes open up late here in the appalachian's & all. Should be good in another month here. It's getting cold fast this winter. I'm gonna buy a new board this winter as my old one is wearing down. Yeah... I know I should just give it a good waxing, but I want a new one dammit! I'm thinkin of investing in a new vapor, not sure though.

Any boarders in the TN/NC/SC/GA area here?

Thumbs up please befriend a two planker :)

I'm not a boarder, but my wife believes she is after a trip out west last year, where she broke her thumb on the bunny slope. She took a couple lessons and declared she'd never ski again. We have a Peter Glenn shop in Atlanta that has a big blowout sale every year and we got her a full setup - Ride board, I forget the boots and bindings brand/model, jackets, pants, padding. lol.

This year we went to the sale and I got some 2006 Lange Comp 100/110 boots - older model but they were 1/2 price and fit great.

waiting to find some used demo skis cheap, been reading all weekend about style/sizes/etc. We went to Breckenridge last Feb with some friends and had a blast and I got the ski bug again big time. I grew up skiing *in Wisconsin* but living in Atlanta its hard to do 3-4 hours of driving up to a ski hill. Hoping to get out a bunch this year. I gotta get a new jacket, already have nice gloves, goggs, and a helmet from sale last year.

ps - awesome snowboard pics - those are def. desktop background quality.

I've a buddy who lives over in the Enger-land country. He's a big skier, goes all over Europe, says prices are reasonable for travel. I bet you could find one of those all inclusive package deals for a good price to the Alps or similar.
