Do you have any plans to make a logical post, or even do something valuable with your life? Probably not, but you hope to one day do so.
The argument was based upon the premise that he would one day purchase the company, therefore the tax on people making more than $250k would apply to him, making the argument valid.Last edited by SCDiesel23; 10-16-2008 at 12:03 PM.

Right.
So he's worried about an extra 3% tax increase on people who make over $250k because he has it in his mind that he'll someday own a company that makes over $250k. Yet, he admits that he has absolutely no plans in place to actually purchase, or even have the know-how to run said business.
Which is what I just said.
You can have hopes and plans to do anything you want, and because of that you can have a valid argument against it.
You probably shouldn't be a huge focal point of a campaign because of it though.eRepublik Game:

If you truly believe that "Joe the Plumber" is an isolated situation within America, that's completely false. Yes, he was one person, how many other people do you think have tangible plans to buy a company that nets over 250k a year? Only Joe the plumber? Doesn't the tax increase affect the company he works for now? Who is to say tangible plans won't materialize over THE NEXT 4 YEARS? It was a valid point, and I'm fairly sure anyone who is able to use inductive reasoning could figure out the premise.

You are missing the point. Joe the Plumber and the rest of the Americans out there with those dreams of someday making over 250K won't get there anytime soon and Obama's tax plan will put relief on them and 95% of Americans right now.
The problem with American's is that they too often think of the best case sneario such as winning the lotory and becoming rich one day instead of what is reality.1 Stripe Blue Belt, Gracie Barra BJJ (Reps to BJJ/MMA brahs)

I believe you are missing the point, saying people won't realize their dreams to make over 250k anytime soon because of increased taxes is flawed logic through and through.
I'm not arguing about the tax rate, but some people who are trying to explain it are overgeneralizing. Joe The Plumber was offered as an EXAMPLE of what MANY AMERICANS ARE GOING THROUGH AND WILL GO THROUGH FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS under 3% tax increase for that tax bracket.
I admit, there are numerous people who argue that this will effect them when in reality it never will, that's not what Joe The Plumber is about.Last edited by SCDiesel23; 10-16-2008 at 12:19 PM.

If he ever buys the company or not he brought up a valid point..I guess what a lot of you dont understand is you get taxed on your gross profits as a business owner..This guy may make$250,000 as an owner but after paying employees and expenses he may only take home $50,000Now tax 3% more..His income just dropped $42,500..Way to punish the rich

wow, your dumb.
Joe the Plumber is stating that a person who is more motivated, driven and overall more successful than other people should not be penalized.
-It's like telling Dexter Jackson to give you his abs because hes more muscular and overall more successful than you. It does not make sense.
If you happen to become a successful person do you want your successes taken away from you in a disproportionate manner compared to the unmotivated lesser driven people of society?
To each his own, and if you don't have it, work harder.

It's a hypothetical that is much more likely to become true than many people who think they are going to make it big otherwise. The owner of the company has already talked about turning the company over to Joe at some point in the future. This isn't someone who is a low level Wal-Mart employee with dreams of one day owning Wal-Mart.
Again, there is no flawed logic in the argument, at all. Even someone who wishes to one day make 250k, subjecting them to the 3% increase is not based upon a false premise, as much of a long shot as it could be.
