breast Cancer or MD Anderson?
My mom was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago. I was just wondering if anybody has had breast cancer, their experience and if anyone has been to MD Anderson in texas (best treatment for cancer, she will be going there)? My mom wanted me to post this bc she is so confused and doesn't know what to expect. Thanks

So sorry to hear about your mom being diagnosed.
I don't have experience w/breast cancer, but I do know that MD Anderson in Houston is one of the best, if not the best, hospitals for treatment.

About 10 years ago I had melanoma cancer. It showed up as a small mole on my arm. I had surgery at MD Anderson and followed up with them for 5 years. I am now cancer free. They saved my life. All of the doctors, nurses, people were really great. MD Anderson and the Houston Medical Center are some of the best hospitals in the world.
If you would like to pm me or talk about it more just let me know.

Prayers for your mom and your family. Its a tough thing to go through for her and those around her. I know because I testicular cancer so I know a little about how things go when dealing with it. The doctor is her closest friend when it comes to treatment. Open communication about ANYTHING or any concerns should be brought up. There could be symptoms that may seem small that could be a indication/sign of something. Is she going to have chemo or radiation?

gosh, that's a bummer. One hundred percent positive it's breast cancer? Should go get another opinion because honestly, not all cancers look alike and, with my experience viewing cancers (not particularly on breast, although that would have been a better summer intern), it's particularly hard to detect an actual cancer.
I wish her the best of luck, and let her know she's not alone that there are a lot of support groups that consist of people just like her. Breast cancer is pretty common.

Congratulations Brandon getting through it and Thank you all so much for the replies. yes, its 100% cancer, its a very rare kind too, she has to heal from her surgeries before she leaves for Texas, but on the 21st she will go to MD Anderson and see what they say and have a new pathology report. With them we are in the best hands, keep us in your prayers. =)

my dad had breast cancer. and i live in NC he had treatment locally radiation and chemo. he did well with it, hated the treatment and was only sick once. he lost his hair of course but he never lost his appatite which is common. he actually ended up eating like crazy and became boaderline diabetic but he has it under control now. he had it in 04 and is cancer free today

Thats great! Congrats your dad's doing so good! Hopefully my mom will too. She's been looking online for all these blonde wigs (she has black hair and his very dark) for when she loses her hair! Her spirit is up much more and she's starting to accept the fact that she has it and many people have survived! thanks again guys!
