GIV takes Universal's Intra-Aid to the Dogg Pound
THE PRODUCT:
THE PROFILE FOUND HERE:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/univ/intraaid.html
THE DESCRIPTION:
Proper workout nutrition (intra-workout) is an area that is being supported by a legit, growing body of science. Intra-workout nutrition represents the next big nutritional frontier for bodybuilders and weightlifters. Even so, many lifters often ignore this period. Why is targeted intra-workout supplementation so important? Here's a short list: proper rehydration, muscle and liver glycogen resynthesis, improved immune function, decreased muscle catabolism, increased muscle protein synthesis, increased muscle anabolism, faster recovery and training at a higher intensity. It's amazing how so many benefits can get overlooked. Intra-Aid brings intra-workout nutrition into the 21st century. It's a combination of key complexes that work in synergy to maximize the aforementioned benefits of workout supplementation. Intra-Aid consists of 5 potent components: fast-acting hydrolyzed protein, a highly specialized carbohydrate blend, critical electrolytes, an essential amino acid blend, and key ergogenic agents. Intra-Aid combines all of the scientific benefits of proper intra-workout supplementation, leaving out the guesswork. The gym water fountain and popular high fructose "sports" drinks may be good for the regular athlete, but for the serious weight lifter, they just can't compare. Think of Intra-Aid as first-aid for your workout.
THE PLAN:
Logging the effects of this intra-workout supplement over the entirety of the bottle.

THE WALKAROUND:
So here I am with the new Intra-Aid. It was 5:00AM and I had to look and feel around before I could test drive this thing at the gym. These are the first-and-foremost things I look for in my products (I have included pics to make my explanations easier):
SERVINGS PER CONTAINER/COST:
25 servs @ 1.74lbs comes in at $28.99 (the lowest I have seen on the net)
COST PER SERVING:
Roughly $1.15
FLAVOR:
Blue Raz
TASTE: 10/10
Being the son of a farmer, I have always linked the taste of blue raz flavorings to the real blue raz, tart-sweetish flavor. I totally hate it! When I saw blue raz, I thought: "Oh man! this sucks...but I gotta keep an open mind, As soon as I dunk it in water and go for the taste test, I was VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! It tasted like blue cotton candy! A much sweeter Gatorade without the mild salty after-taste.
The flavor for a lack of a better word is.... ORGASMIC.
MIXABILITY: 10/10
Definitely have to go with cold water with a couple of ice cubes to get the full effect (or as U-rep puts it... "On the rocks"). Look at the pics to see what I mean...
All I did was add 1 scoop to 20OZ of cold water, shook it vigorously for 15-20 seconds and it looked like sky blue Gatorade. Pardon the crappy pics but this was done at 5AM on my RAZR.
OH Hai! Iz t3h Inta-Aidz

just opened...

1 scoop...

in 20OZ of water and shook for 20 secs...

The foam dissipated in a matter of 1-2 mins.
SERVINGS PER CONTAINER: 8/10
Comeon universal! Why not an even 30 servings? I would be glad to pay $31-$32 for that!
This was my only peeve with the product
RATING THUS FAR: A RARE BUT SOLID 10/10

THE WORKOUT:
Today was Chest Shoulders Triceps 1:
HammerStrength Flat Press:
Warmups: 135x20/185x10/205x8/225x8/275x8
Rest-Pause Set: 295x8/Rest 15 secs/295x5
HammerStrength Shoulders:
Warmups: 80lbsx20/100x10/100x8/100x8
Rest-Pause Set: 115x8/Rest 15 secs/ 115x8
Tricep Pushdown (using a crazy kind of Charles Glass tweak that makes it harder but makes the outer tricep head explode):
Warmups: 110x20/120x15/130x10/130x10
Rest-Pause Set: 140x8/140x10
Pyramid down (just for kicks): 140x8/130x15/120x13/110x13
Shrugs (cuz I love em): 315lbs done on BBx3 sets for 20 reps.
60 second extreme stretch after each part and 30 mins of low intensity cardio on the treadmill.
THOUGHTS:
Even though I was sweating my head off, I felt totally energetic. Didnt feel the sugar overpower the smoothness of the drink (as in other sugary drinks). Wasnt craving the water fountain like I always do after ever 2 or so sets. Love the feeling and the taste of the Aid. Also, it kept my stomach from having that "empty feeling" because I workout first thing in the morning.

I would like a larger size as well... but 25 servings should easily last a month... unless you're training everyday.

THE WORKOUT:
Today was Quads Hams Calves 1:
Legs dont have rest pause. Just straight sets with 20 rep widowmakers following each set
My gym has a hammer strength machine that is a hybrid between a legpress and squats. I use it.
Leg Press:
2 platesx20/2 plates x20 (widowmakers)/ 4 platesx20/2platex20(WM)/6platesx15/4platesx20(WM)/8x15/6x20(WM)/10x20/6x20(WM)/12x20/6x20(wm)/4x20(wm)
all plates are 45lbs
Hamstring curls (laying/single leg):
35lbsx30/50x30/63x25/75x25/75x25/75x25
Sitting Calf Raise:
110x10/130x10/170x10/170x10/190x10/210x10
Each set was done with 5-10 second stretch at the bottom for each rep
60 second extreme stretch after each part.
THOUGHTS:
Generally speaking, I get massive cramps in my quads, hams, calves when I stretch and flex after each part. I believe the intra-aid made a difference today because of the electrolyte factor. I was cramp-free, and energy was sustained and smooth.
Definitely nice surges of released energy, that is sustained through the workout, and I just cant get past how delicious the drink tastes.
