Getting back in the gym after being sick...

Hey all -

I couldn't really find the answer to my question but I was wondering how you handle being sick and getting back into the gym after. I was probably due for a good week of rest anyway but I have not lifted since last Friday night, I felt funny on Friday night but managed to get a in a great/heavy work out. I was then sick for the whole weekend and even took a day off work on Monday.

So no activity at all - Saturday-Wed. (so far) Today is the first day when my body did not wake up completely aching and I felt rested upon waking but not 100% - I was thinking going to the gym and warming up my body for a good lifting day tomorrow, or would it be better to wait? I don't want to hinder getting better and then not be able to go the gym for another week.. yikes.

Thanks in advance!

Lauren

If you're feeling ok now, i reckon its ok to hit the gym but don't overdo it. just get yourself there, maybe play around with some light weights and get a bit of cardio in. Don't go hard until you're feeling 100% fine.
No point risking getting sick again.
but yeh id say get in there tomorrow if u feel ok...just so u don't jump on the lazy train.

Cool

Get your sweats out and go hit the bike at the gym for a good 30-45 mins. Take a good magazine or book and pedal away. Tomorrow when you're feeling better, start easy and don't expect to get right back to normal...ease back into lifting but still push yourself! Make sure you're drinking enough water too!!! Get well soon!
