Last nite in my dorm at college i was smoking with a couple people and long story short i did a ****ty job hiding the smoke and it could be smelled from the hallway. Next thing i know two RAs and a cop are knocking on my door, they come in and stupidly i gave them permission to search my ****. they found a bubbler, a few cans of resin (which they said counts the same as weed) and a scale. I wasnt arrested but i lost all my sh*t and now i hav to go to court for marijuana possession. lucky in my state marijuana possession is only civil violation and this is my first offense for anyting ever. (not even a traffic ticket) Ill hav to pay a fine which i guess is ok but what im really worried about is having a record if im convicted. (even though its just a civil offense) although im told its possible that my record would be sealed.
WTF is all i have to say
anyone ever been in a similar situation and hav some advice to share?

I've got "caught" going 44 on a 25 before which I think was BS and had to pay a lawyer $275 for it, which I could've spent on all kinds of supplements or anything. Still pissed off about that one. Didn't ask him to prove the speed, try talking him out of it, anything....that's what happens on your first time being pulled over lol.

NEVER let cops search your room, car, possessions, EVER.
You have to be very clear and decisive when you tell them this too. None of "I don't think it's a good idea" or "Do I have the right to tell you no?"
Say.
"No you cannot search my (car, room, stuff)" or "You have no permission to search any of my belongings" and there is nothing they can do, unless they have reasonable doubt, which in this case they probably did.

Pretrial intervention ftw...dunno if they do that sort of thing where you are, especially when you were caught on college grounds. My brother was caught with a piece and under 30 grams in his car. He pays for counseling which is around $1,000 and will have 6 months probation but after that it will be expunged permanately from his record.
